Everest Region Trekking: “Straddling a ridge with breathtaking views of Everest, Thyangboche Monastery is the holiest place in the Sherpa highlands. En route to Everest, Hillary and Tenzing paused for a blessing. We stay in the teahouse next door, so close you can hear monks chanting.”
The Annapurna Region – in luxury: “Not all Himalayan trekking holidays require roughing it. Our low-altitude route through villages and farmland to the Annapurna foothills includes five nights in premium Mountain Lodges of Nepal lodges, all of which have en-suite bathrooms and proper duvets. The trek far exceeded expectations and a few days rest and relaxation at the end was the icing on the cake. The variety of scenery enroute, the great team of guides and porters and the camaraderie between the group made for an all round wonderful experience . The standard of food and accommodation tho basic was surprisingly good and the pace of trekking and breaks was spot on for everyone . We were extremely well led and looked after and learned so much about this wonderful land and its people.
This is a great trip as you get to see all the best spots in North India and Nepal, there are some long drives over bumpy roads in Nepal especially. Prepare fro some longer drives but this allows you to see the country side and get away from the larger cities. Bring some good walking shoes as we do a day hike in Pokhara.
What a trip. The variety of once in a lifetime experiences is mind-blowingly. Manic Dehli, the Taj Mahal, mysterious and atmospheric Varanasi, the chill of Nepal and the views of the Himalayas. It will all live with me forever. Amazing trip!
“Winter is not the most popular season to trek in Nepal, but there are good reasons to consider this time of year. During December, the skies are generally clearest (both in the cities and mountains) because humidity is low. If you come prepared for cold weather, then trekking in winter can be a very good idea. The trails and lodges are also much quieter. ”
