I had a great time on the 14-day trip. Even though I got deathly sick once, it was a truly wonderful trip!
Most Inspirational Moment
The entire trip!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Very well educated on the subject matter and energetic. Incredible timing skills.
Advice for Potential Travellers
I think the fitness level should be raised from 2:00 to at least three. And watch out for uneven sidewalks.

Great way to experience beautiful Vietnam
We have just returned from this amazing trip. Vietnam certainly lived up to and possibly exceeded our expectations. Vietnam is such a beautiful country – a true feast for the senses, so vibrant and joyful. The Vietnamese people are truly warm, friendly and engaging.
The cycling landscape was very varied through some busy towns, quiet villages, breathtaking scenery and alongside endless rice fields.
The organisation of this trip was truly remarkable thanks to the professional skills of our group leader Son. He absolutely is the best group leader we have ever met on our trips.
Unfortunately, I had an accident half way through the holiday but I have nothing but praise for our wonderful leader Son. He showed such professionalism alongside care, support and empathy, as did all the support team – Lee the mechanic, Tee and Saow our driver. I could not fault any of the team and I felt so lucky to have the love and support of the group members.
The accident did not ruin my trip. I feel so blessed to have seen so much of this beautiful country.
Our hotel rooms were fantastic with available conditioning and a swimming pool available in most of them . Whale Island was beautiful. The overnight train was an interesting experience and Halong Bay at the end was beautiful.
Most Inspirational Moment
Being part of such an encouraging and caring team.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Son Nygugen is simply the best guide we have ever met. He has just the right balance of professionalism, skill and organisational skills coupled with such care, humility, calmness, kindness and humour. We felt so safe and looked after by him. Nothing was too much trouble and Son went above and beyond with his help, support and care for the team.
This must have been one of the hardest trips to navigate and lead as unfortunately on top of my accident 11 out of the 17 in the group caught a virus. Son showed nothing but concern and care to each individual and provided any practical support needed. He truly is a hero and deserves nothing but praise. Thank you Son for being such a special person.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be a confident and experienced cyclist, be prepared for the most awesome experience and hope and pray you are lucky enough to have Son as your leader.

Excellent but title is probably a misnomer
I’ll try not to be too gushing about my praise of this but it was a truly excellent trip; at the end we felt like starting again. Exodus at its best, it’s all about the bits in-between not the usual tourist sights, though you do see those. Most of the time you are staying in hotels used by other tour groups and you do feel sorry for them being shunted from temple to city to viewpoint in a coach, all looking bored. They do not pass through villages where locals wash themselves and their clothing in rivers or see the smiles which greeted us, gaudily clad aliens in Lyra.
Thought the accommodation was the best I’ve ever had on one of these expeditions.
Most Inspirational Moment
Difficult to say but guess has to be the climb up to Newara Eliya - nearly 7000 feet of ascent not the 4921 listed in the trip notes. Close second was the descent from Ella; we were awestruck by the scenery.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Wajee is a great guy with a passion for his country and a strong sense of social justice. He was very informative, particularly about the socio-economic situation in the country.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The name of the trip is misleading - we certainly cycled some lovely, quiet backwaters of roads but a lot of time is spent on fairly main ones and, at times, there is a considerable traffic. Beware the Tuctucs, whose movement is akin to random thermal motion but less predictable.
It was very hot when we travelled which sapped energy a bit - think that was unusual for time of year. Take factor 50 sunscreen- for me, at least, avoiding skin cancer preferable to a nice tan.
We loved the food but it was quite spicy - don't come if you are curry averse. The free lunches are usually buffets - very nice but a good way to pile on weight unless you are careful.
Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and one we hope to return to.

Recommend Belize Reef & Ruins
Joined a group of six, delightful Brits and our extremely capable, watchful and kind guide Jorge for our adventure in Belize. Culturally this was a tour that gave us daily opportunities to enjoy and experience Belizian and Guatamalean history, Mayan civilization , natural beauty and current social/political/environmental environments. Our trip was 1/19-1/30. Just about perfect amount of time to explore with 3 home bases that lent well to the itinerary and our comfort. As a fit 69 and 78 year old couple we found the daily pace comfortable. Though speaking of comfort know that the daily transportation, across pot hole filled roads, is a 10 passenger van which is ok if you are slight of build but if you are over weight or taller than 5′ 9″ you will not be comfortable on the 2 to 3 hour drives.
Climate Change – its here and its real both in the USA and Belize. Our trip was 1/19-1/30/25 and we had a lot of rain. Ones experience is best if you have packed for that wet weather and we did. Disappointed with lack of waste water treatment facilities at Caye Caulker. Several times during our visit we heard local references to the use of the Caribbean as one huge toilet. Snorkeling revealed strain on the coral.
Due to flooding at Birds Eye View Lodge was closed to our group and instead we had accommodations at the Black Orchid which was lovely. Cahal Pech Location atop a hill overlooking San Ignacio makes for fantastic views. Walks to town never happened due to all day downpour on our free day.
Most Inspirational Moment
4 a.m., jungle walk to see Sunrise at Tikal even though fog rolled in and we didn't actually see sun rise. Most Surprising Experience: Cahal Pech Archeological Preserve. Amazing! Even in the rain.
Have to add much admiration for Community Baboon Sanctuary and all they achieve with so little. Walk to Rio Frio Cave, Butterfly and Hummingbird Farm & Coffee Farm - wonderful experiences.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Our guide, Jorge Estrella, took excellent care of us and his knowledge of all things about Belize and Guatemala contributed so much to the enjoyment of our experience. Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our guide Jorge, witnessed his relationships with staff everywhere we went, and knew we were in good hands throughout the entire trip. Appreciated his constant safety guidance. I'll add that all the local guides were very knowledgeable, helpful and appreciated that we could get them to take a few nice group pictures.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Check forecast before you go. Pack for wet conditions. Tubing, ATM, and snorkeling are so much more enjoyable if you have a wet pack to keep stuff dry. If you use a pack w/o protection from water you can be miserable for 2-4 hours. Waterproof packs for your cell phones. If your back pack isn't waterproof pack towels and dry clothes in large zip bags. Towels not always provided (should be) and some resorts do not loan them out. Boat ride on the lagoon to Lamanai Mayan temple in pouring down rain was miserable, cold and wet due to driving rain and open boats used for tours. Don't let this discourage you. Our group got great photos of the experience, had many laughs afterward and came home with great memoroes.
Comfort needs went up a few notches for this group due to lots of rain & cool (low 60's/nite) temps. Resorts do not have heat and limited blankets. Some only have tile floors in rooms which became slippery, Mini fridge & microwave not assured nor are coat hangers. Suitcases on the floor due to minimal furnishings in rooms. Tikal best lodging experience. 4 a.m., hike to watch sun rise at Tikal best experienced if you are prepared to recover from a sweaty, demanding hike to viewing area where you proceed to sit on ancient, cold (suns not up yet) temple steps for 90 minutes. Was windy which made it colder. We were prepared. Experience was awesome. Laundry services at Cahal Pech. Boat for ride to Lamanai and Caye Caulker snorkeling have little cover against sun, no seat cushions, no restroom and no dry storage. Plan accordingly. Deck gets really slippery. When you move you do so by holding hands of your friends. If flying from the USA try to avoid Miami Int'l airport at all costs. If you do route through MIA be prepared for long customs, confusion at baggage pickup after customs, hasty transfer of bags to connecting flight, no time to grab food for flight, barely making flight. The entire experience was memorable and we look forward to more trips with Exodus. This was our 3rd. fyi.

Incredible adventure
Cycling from Saigon to Hanoi allowed us to experience the stunning landscapes such a Halong Bay, Hoi An, Hué, lush paddy fields as well as quaint villages. Pedalling through the villages enabled us to experience first hand the friendliness of locals. How can we forget the delicious food we had everyday during the whole trip!
Most Inspirational Moment
Riding through remote villages, groups of children laughing and waving at us as if we were in a race...In that moment, I realized that adventure isn't just about the destination: it's about the unexpected connections along the way. Travel is not just about landscapes. It's about the people who make a place feel alive.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Exodus is very lucky to have Lam as the group leader. He always had the interest of the group at heart. Lam was always checking that no one was left behind on the roads. At every stop, he made sure we were hydrated, allowed time for us to visit "a happy room" or a "happy bush"and be ready for the next stretch.Lam along with the support group: Saow the bus driver, Xiu the mechanic and Trang the truck driver, gave us confidence to push forward. With Lam leading the way, and the mechanic and bus driver closing the group, we never felt alone on the journey.
Advice for Potential Travellers
I would go back to Vietnam in a heart beat!

The Best tour to climb Kilimanjaro - First Class Standard
We have just returned from this amazing trip.
What a wonderfully experience it was.
David the tour leader was absolutely fantastic.
He was strong and decisive leader and was exactly what we all needed to complete this tough challenge.
The porters were unbelievable and every bit of credit you read about them in other reviews is so very well deserved.
See for yourselves how dedicated to you they are.
It’s like a small village constantly on the move up the mountain together.
The food was first class and there were a lot of choices for everybody.
To be fair we all ate really well and you certainly wont go hungry at all.
The mess tent had a great vibe as you will find similar people wanting to do similar things as yourselves.
Our group of 11 had a great balance.
Me and my wife were the only couple together and all the others had come despite being in relationships.
Advice
Don’t take a book or a kindle. There is very little ‘down time’ so you wont get the time you think you will get because there is always something to do.
I thought we’d have hours of waiting around in the afternoons but it never worked out that way.
Sometimes everybody would be tired and take a nap other times a card game would commence.
You’ll be amazed at how quickly the hours go.
You will have a great group of people believe me.
You booked this trip for the same reasons that they did so embrace it.
You will wear a lot of the same clothes, just ensure you have your summit night clothes fresh and ready to go.
Because we went in early February there were hot days and cold nights.
Your clothes wont smell and neither will you so take a little roll on deodorant and use it every morning.
You will get a wishy washy (bowl of hot water) every morning and most afternoons too.
Remember it’s nothing like Glastonbury camping mainly because you will always be sober.
Believe it or not but the 15kg allowance is plenty.
No it really is.
Don’t stress about packing it’s all going to be OK…
Don’t go mad with your snacks as there is unlimited chocolate and biscuits provided by Exodus.
The only small complaint was that the toilet tent was a bit shabby and the zipper needed attention.
The toilet itself was absolutely fine.
I’m sure Exodus can afford a new toilet tent.
The organisation was first class and a lot of friendships developed.
It’s amazing how it’s all arranged and so well put together.
I would recommend this trip 100% and Exodus as a company have got you covered.
They might cost a little more than other tours but you get what you pay for on the mountain.
Most Inspirational Moment
One of our guides on summit night Lucy dragging me to the top when I was exhausted.
“Get on your feet!” She would shout to me.
I would never have submitted without her.
Everyone at Exodus was inspiring.
Fred, William, Angela, Anna and of course our leader David and Mama Lucy (my sister from a different Mister) were inspirational.
Milton and his team in the cooking tent were magicians.
Thank you to you all.
Thoughts on Group Leader
David was a solid leader who was impeccable, faultless.
He made you believe in him and respect him.
When he spoke you listened.
He didn’t mess he wanted to get everyone to summit and he cared about his group and his staff.
Advice for Potential Travellers
No books (you wont have time)
Wear the same clothes apart from summit night.
Go easy on your snacks as Exodus supply plenty themselves.
Take hand sanitiser
You only need one hat.
Wet wipe washes are fine and wear merino wool undies.
Small packet of Rennie (heartburn)
You wont need any hair products as you will be wearing a hat for most of the time.
No one ‘dresses up’

I highly recommend this trip if you are an avid hiker. This country was one of the most beautiful I’ve been to. The guides both on the north and south Island were amazing. The group dynamic was top-notch. I was unsure about this trip, but I’m so glad that I committed and went on it. I would highly recommend this trip to anybody considering it.

A wonderful visit to an incredible country.
This trip was full of unforgettable experiences that provided a wonderful insight to this fascinating and beautiful country. Most days were pretty busy, but there wasn’t anything I would want to have missed.
Most Inspirational Moment
The stay at Gal Oya. The glamping set up, location and activities there were wonderful, as were the staff.

Mahen was brilliant, with his detailed knowledge, impeccable planning and thoughtfulness. And all done with an infectious smile.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The pace may seem hectic at times, but just go with the flow, you'll love Sri Lanka and the people. You could however opt out of some activities if you needed a rest!
