Most Inspirational Moment
Lots of inspirational moments, but the walk through the canyon (Siq) and seeing the Treasury at Petra gradually coming into sight has to be the moment, especially with the full mid-morning sun making it rosy. It is better than can be imagined.Caking ourselves in mud from the Dead Sea and floating in it was amazing--your skin feels 20 years younger.Seeing the majesty of the desert at sunset and sleeping in a camp bathed in moonlight, then starlight, watching the shooting stars and gradually the sunrise.Snorkelling in the Red Sea and seeing the beautiful coral reefs, floating amongst shoals of colourful fishVisiting biblical sites, and seeing the promised land as Moses did!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Very personable, full of historical knowledge and worked very hard to please a large (20 people) group. Age range in our group was mid-twenties to mid seventies, so everyone needed something different and Danny coped extremely well. Jordan is a Muslim country and alcohol availability is sparse, but he made an effort to get us to available off-license as appropriate and recommended restaurants where wine was available. Did a lot of phoning around to make arrangements for individuals. Great guy!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Prepare to be amazed at what Jordan has to offer. It has a wealth of history as well as beautiful landscapes and really friendly people. With only a 2hr time difference, a wonderful week in a very different environment without coping with jet lag on return is a definite bonus. It is worth doing some reading on some of the historical stuff before you go. Also there is the opportunity to snorkel or dive one day, to ride a camel in the desert, to experience the spa effects of the Dead Sea and come back laden with Dead Sea products.
