Great trip!

My wife and I really enjoyed this trip. It’s fairly active, with some excellent walks and day trips. The hotel is a plus point – comfortable, friendly and with super food (and plenty of it!).

Most Inspirational Moment

Stunning views on the walks to Amalfi and Positano. The friendliness of the local people, and enthusaism of the staff at the hotel. The cookery demonstrations were a hoot!Pompeii and Herculaneum

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine was an excellent group leader. Well-organised, well-informed and very warm.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If travelling in the 'shoulder' periods be prepared for a range of weathers. In late May we encountered rain and cold on some days.Use the 'free' day to visit Herculaneum and Ravello (hotel will organise this)Go to Tony's bar a short walk away - the welcome and personal attention will astound you!

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

Great scenery interwoven with fascinating history, excellent leader and lovely hotel base for the week.

Most Inspirational Moment

The scenery is just breathtaking, but if I had to choose a moment it was probably the walk around and into the crater on Vesuvius.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine did pretty much all she could to make sure the group had a good week. Very friendly and open, Christine has made very good local connections which help in making things run smoothly. Christine uses her knowledge of the area and its people to enrich the walks. Excellent job!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Many people would probably find walking poles useful, whether for going up or down (or both), particularly the longer flights of steps.

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

This holiday was just perfect in every way. Our guide Christine was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly.  We were also very lucky to have a fantastic group of people sharing the experiences with us. The hotel staff were great and proivided us with a culinary feast every night!!

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many amazing experiences but I would say that for me the valley of the fairies was my favourite walk, the "secret garden" was just magical. However I will always remember walking around the crater of Vesuvius and hearing our shouts of "ciao" echo around us, it was fantastic.Back in the hotel I loved the pizza demonstration, which was made even better by eating the pizzas afterwards, I have never tasted pizza like it!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine was our group leader and she was great, I don't beleive that the holiday would have been so enjoyable if it wasn't for Christine. On all of the walks the knowledge that Christine shared with us just made all the difference to our understanding of the area and local customs. It was also nice to see that she had such a strong relationship with not only the hotel staff but everyone that we encountered in the village.Christine was very good at setting a walking pace that everyone could manage and this made the walks very "do-able" and kept the group together.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The advice I would give is that if you enjoy walking, taking in breathtaking scenery, emersing yourself into the Italian culture and eating amazing food then this is definitely the trip for you!!

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

The choice of hotel, a fairly small family-run affair in Bomerano, was one of the things that made this holiday, with staff that were always both attentive and cheerful. The second important feature of the holiday is the location, within the amazing scenery of the Amalfi coast, with stupendous views at every turn of the footpath.

Most Inspirational Moment

We may have been lucky with the weather, which was overcast and misty when we arrived, but which had continuous blue skies and warm sun for the whole of our holiday week. The coastal towns that we visited, Amalfi and Positano, are both very pretty and have their own attractive cafes and bars to be enjoyed after a day's walking. But perhaps the most beautiful town we visited (on our free day) was Ravello, high on the hills and boasting the must-see gardens of the Villa Cimbrone, complete with stupendous views over the coast far below. We also fitted in a visit to Herculaneum on our free day and, on another day, the holiday included a visit to Pompei and a climb up Vesuvius with a walk around the rim.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader was Albert, who was very familiar with the area and knew the answers to all of our questions. He set an easy pace but we managed to cover a surprising amount of ground (and steps!) during each day. Wherever we went he had interesting suggestions for where we might get a good cold beer, ice-cream or other treats. He was also exceptionally helpful in making travel arrangements for the free day, on which group members wanted to do a variety of different things. His knowledge of the area and his friendly reception by so many of the locals mean that he was an excellent choice of leader.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for all possible variations in the weather but, with luck, you should have weather as good as the weather that we experienced. Do not miss Herculaneum and Ravello! Expect to have to negotiate a large number of steps as you go up and down the stunning terrain; although most of the walking is easy, it is to be considered as moderate in places, with the odd scramble for a few yards.

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

overall from booking to arriving back home was a wonderfull experience 10 out 10 to Exodus.

Most Inspirational Moment

From the first day to the last the whole experience was great I normally organise my own trips but thought that on this occasion I would use Exodus and I was not disappointed. For me the highlight of the trip was at the Hotel where the host's, a wonderful couple ( Brother's ) put on a show in the kitchen of how to make Pizza's, well, we were in rapture's the dough was flying and they captured the hearts of us all they were trully wonderful people and made us so welcome I can honestly say that you could not better the hospitality anywhere.

Thoughts on Group Leader

absolutly brilliant

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just go with the flow

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

4 days of moderate walking in beautiful countryside with stunning views of the Amalfi coast. The trip in May allows you to walk in perfect walking conditions with the added bonus of being able to see wildflowers in their natural habitat. The Hotel due Torri, a family run hotel, has friendly staff that make your stay memorable.

Most Inspirational Moment

For me, the boat ride on the final day after the Walk of the Gods was the most inspirational momemnt when I could see in a panoramic view all the places I had walked in the past week.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine was absolutely superb. She made everyone feel included, whatever their fitness level was. She had excellent local knowledge, spoke fluent Italian and held the group together. She even made the bus driver sing!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring walking sticks and expect to have a lovely holiday.

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

What a lovely week I had walking with three girl friends whom I met for lunch in January in a little tea shop near where we live. On mentioning I was going to walk the Amalfi coast they had all signed up and paid deposits with in 5 days. They too had such a good week that on our return home the question was, where are we going next time? we had good food, good company and the week was well organised. I can highly recommend this adventure to anyone.

Most Inspirational Moment

the views across the med sea and landscape will stay in my head for a long time.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine was just fantastic. could not fault her.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do go and walk the Amalfi coast. so much history there too.

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

Excellent hotel, brilliant friendly informative guide and all round great holiday!

Most Inspirational Moment

Meeting great new friends

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent friendly and welcoming

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

I’d heard the scenery on the Amalfi Coast was great. It certainly was but the walks into the gorges and the walk of the gods was something else. Fantastic!

Most Inspirational Moment

The walks themselves. Truly awe inspiring. It seemed that around every bend was another fantastic view. Photos did not do it justice.

Thoughts on Group Leader

What can I say? Suzy was brilliant! She was very knowledgeable of the area including not only every route but the history and flora and fauna and wildlfe relating to those routes. She had a very good relationship with all the hotel staff which made everything so easy and enjoyable for us all. Each day we were given detailed information as to what the walk entalied and any alternatives available should anyone not wish to do the walk. Best guide I've ever had.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you're not used to steps (and they're all different shapes and sizes) then a couple of the walks may not be for you but if you can cope with them the rewards are fantastic. Trekking Poles would certainly be useful for those people.

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

An excellent week with a good mix of fantastic walks combined with a visit to Pompeii and Vesuvius, and a great family run hotel with superb food – what’s not to like?

Most Inspirational Moment

The views on the walks were stunning, and being able to visit both Pompeii and Herculaneum was a bonus.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Barbara was an excellent leader as there was quite a mixture of walking ability and she managed to get everyone to the end of each walk, or at least to a suitable place to catch a bus!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do try to visit Herculaneum on your spare day - all the group combined it with an afternoon in Naples as the weather was not good enough to go to Capri or Ravello, and enjoyed both. We had the same guide at both archaelogical sites and he was well worth the extra cost.  Poles are very useful and good rain gear essential as we had a couple of days of heavy rain when we were there in late March.
