Tiring and beautiful

Breathtaking views…great mix of hills and amazing descents.. lovely places to stay (…a bit too much cycling for me personally but perfect for people who want to go for a bit longer each day and really get tired out!)

Most Inspirational Moment

Coming down from the tops of various mountains... amazing & beautiful views, and lots of speed! :-) .

Thoughts on Group Leader

Really thoughtful, considerate and hard working! thanks

Advice for Potential Travellers

Any women out there.. you do need to cover your shoulders ALL the time (short sleeved t shirt is okay). Wash your hands and be careful where you eat.. almost our whole group all got food poisoning at the end of our trip! This trip was a bit too much cycling for me personally - roughly 9am - 5pm at least almost every day, some days finishing at 6.30 (one day was 4.30 but our trip leader said we'd finished an hour ahead of other groups he'd led) - and it meant there was less time to look around the places we were staying and not much interaction with anyone except in our group. This was a considerable difference in time in the saddle in comparison with my last trip which was only one grade down (3), and also the uphills were much more frequent and harder (although fun!). I missed having a bit more time to look around the places we were staying and just relax. It's is my own fault as, with hindsight, an extra 20kms a day does equate to an extra 2 hours so if i had thought about it beforehand I would have known, but just in case you're like me - be prepared! This trip involves a long time in the saddle, especially if its true that our group was a quick one. But that's a good thing if you want that - the cycling is great, the views are outstanding and the uphills and downhills are well balanced with one another, if you like hills.

Cycling Morocco's great south

Brilliant cycle holiday and 100% recommended. This holiday is very much about cycling through beautiful Moroccan landscapes and eating some very tasty Tagines.
Be-warned there really are only two directions to cycle on this trip and that’s UP and DOWN!.. the climbs are difficult and challenging even when not listed as so in the trip notes (however there is always the option of getting in a support vehicle if you want to). The descents are AMAZING.. think we clocked up around 60km per hour plus at times. There is very little flat on the whole trip… but every hill was worth it!

Most Inspirational Moment

Not Inspirational but on day 6 when you have cycled your final BIG hill (not the last hill) there is a long flat road at the top of the mountain, followed by an incredible long descent. This was a great chance to really see and appreciate where you are and what you are doing - really fantastic last cycle day.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Female travelers should know that you need to wear long shorts and have your shoulders covered at all times. This isn't in the trip notes but worth knowing when deciding what to pack.

CYCLE MOROCCO'S GREAT SOUTH

My first ever cycling holiday and first time with Exodus.  Really enjoyed the experience despite coming down with a persistent stomach  bug the night before I joined the group.  True that it’s good to have some cycling miles in your legs if you’re new to touring.  I’d done a bit of training with local cycle groups and was glad I had – having said that I’m still not a fast cyclist so you don’t need to be super-fit.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the top of the 21km climb and then sailing down the 30km descent the other side!  And meeting some great people in the group

Thoughts on Group Leader

Unfortunately I probably gave him my stomach bug - he was certainly unwell for a few days - so coped admirably in the circumstances.  Good to have a second person on hand as a safety net.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Build a good bit of cycle fitness if you've not been in the saddle for years.  Realise that there are quite a few transfers involved in this trip - and there's not much space in the back of the vehicles!  Also that there are no toilet facilities for 90% of the time whilst you're out on the road - just in case you're squeamish about that sort of thing.  The support vehicle is your safety net - I got in it the first day when I was feeling really poorly.  So with that guarantee, I'd say go for it!

CYCLE MOROCCO'S GREAT SOUTH

Amazing cycling on good roads with little traffic. November a good time to escape UK to warmer weather

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling up the Tizi n Test pass to 2100m and then to 30km descent.  Essouria also a loverly place to spend time,  I think in next years trip there is more time there

Thoughts on Group Leader

Well organised

Advice for Potential Travellers

The cycling is amazing, trip notes don't really explain it fully. Food ok, dry chicken tagine several times. Several long transfers.

CYCLE MOROCCO'S GREAT SOUTH

GREAT CYCLING ON QUIET ROADS WITH GREAT DOWN HILLS AND NOT STEEP UP HILLS.THE TRIP NOTES DO NOT DO THE CYCLING JUSTICE.

Most Inspirational Moment

THE PEACE AND QUIET I EXPERIENCED WHILE CYCLING !

Thoughts on Group Leader

GOOD.CALM AND ORGANISED.

CYCLE MOROCCO'S GREAT SOUTH

This was my first ever group trip so i was nervous about almost every aspect of the whole event. Would anyone speak to me?, would I be the worse cyclist?, would the meal times be awkard?, would the accommodation live up to expectations? There was no need to worry!

Most Inspirational Moment

When on a 22Klm climb a few inspirational moments pass by. Was it the fox, the views, the hairpin bends, the quiet? Probably all of them and many more. But mainly it was simply being there and doing it.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was Andy. His passion for the location and his love of cycling helped to make him a great leader. He also was always ready to go that extra step to ensure that we all had plenty to do and nothing to worry about.

Advice for Potential Travellers

There is plenty of advice about bringing torches, ear bungs, currency etc to be found on the site. However, none of this is of any use unless you actually GO. So the advice would simply be, if you're an OK cyclist, have a taste for a little adventure; just book it.

CYCLE MOROCCO'S GREAT SOUTH

A great group of cyclists…very close knit and very focussed on having good cycling fun as well as safety with an excellent, enthusiastic and passionate tour leader assisted by a lead rider and a cooperative team of drivers

Most Inspirational Moment

Making it up to the summit at Tizi n Test (height 2100 m).  It was a steep climb, and of course very hard on the weekend warrior muscles, being the 2nd day of the trip...However, the real challenge was on the last cycling day, where we had to go through dirt mountainous and steep slopes.  A few of us found that walking was faster than cycling, and therefore chose the easy way.  I am glad, for myself, I had opted for this rather than the Atlas Descent (which although very exciting would have been most likely above my level).

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alejandro was an excellent leader.  He has that particular trait that makes his clients comfortable and confident about his knowledge and expertise.  He made sure the front and rear cyclists were not separated by a long interval, through regrouping at no maximum of 22 km depending on the terrain.  This reinforces the camaderie among the participants.  His instructions for the cycling stretches were colorful, detailed and complete.   There was only one short section where anyone was lost, and even then, it got righted within a short time.  Such was the focus on safety.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for an exciting week.  My group had participants from Canada (2), Norway (2), Norway/France (1), Dutch (1), Singapore (2), and Brits (7), of which 5 were females.  Sleep early, as the ride is demanding...there is very little time to do anything else (except in the big towns such as Essaioura, and Marrakech).

CYCLE MOROCCO'S GREAT SOUTH

A great trip taking in some fantastic and ever changing scenery along largely very quiet roads. Not only do you get to experience the hustle and bustle of Marrakech’s bazaars but you get to cycle the through towns and villages that few tourists ever see. A great leader and a great group. Alejandro was an excellent leader Well organised, very friendly, knowledgeable and good humored.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you are fit enough otherwise you may find some of the climbs challenging, some might like to bring your own saddle or spd pedals . Don't use your rear brake when cornering on a sandy surface :-)
