Most Inspirational Moment
There were a few moments outstanding for being unexpected. We encountered horses on a sand spit. We met a guy who cleared land, built a house, grew crops, and made wine - amazing! I enjoyed an organ recital in Riga cathedral. Under the usual tourist stuff, most moving was the history of these countries and their occupation during WWII and after. There are national and individual stories, and they are fascinating.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Fantastic! There is a ton of organisation in this trip, and thanks to Andrius it all went smoothly. He spent long-days with us and was both informative and amusing.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The capitals are all interesting and have beautiful old towns - Tallin was my favourite. There is a lot of city walking, and an appreciation of architecture, history and churches will help your enjoyment. Several of our group said they would like to go back to give more time to them. The walking is enjoyable, but the countries are very flat! The walks are coastal, forests and lake - definitely not mountain and waterfall landscapes! I went because I was interested in exploring a relatively unknow (to me!) corner of Europe. I was very impressed with how much we saw and the variety packed into this trip.
