Guided Small Group Holidays

Group Holidays

Our guided small group holidays offer unforgettable experiences for anyone seeking both adventure and cultural experiences. From exploring the stunning Amalfi Coast in Italy to trekking the legendary Inca Trail in Peru, Exodus creates immersive journeys that cater to a wide variety of interests.

Our small group trips usually accommodate between 8-16 people, meaning they aren’t disruptive to the places we visit. Plus, a smaller number of guests creates a good group dynamic; you’ll get to know a range of people from different backgrounds with a shared interest in travel.

And with a local expert on all our guided small group trips, you’ll get a unique insight into local life. Our expert leaders impart unknown stories behind the sights you’ll see and take all the hassle out of travel arrangements, so you can focus on enjoying every moment of your adventure.

If you’re seeking cultural immersion during your holiday, the Amalfi Coast and Namibia are great destinations for discovering the rich history, delicious cuisine and warm hospitality. Alternatively, head off on a walking adventure of a lifetime when you trek the iconic Inca Trail trek in Peru. Following in the footsteps of the Incas, you’ll hike through lush valleys, high-altitude plains and cloud forests before reaching the spellbinding Machu Picchu. Throughout your trip, our expert guides provide historical context and support.

If you’re a wildlife lover, Costa Rica beckons with its lush rainforests, indigenous animals and adrenalin-fuelled activities. Zipline through the jungle, spot exotic wildlife, such as sloths and monkeys, and relax on pristine beaches.

FAQs on Guided Group Holidays

Why choose a guided group holiday over independent travel?

At Exodus, our guided group tours let you enjoy many benefits, including the opportunity to connect with like-minded travellers, access to exclusive and immersive experiences and local insights and the convenience of having everything taken care of by a knowledgeable tour leader. Additionally, our guided tours often incorporate cultural, historical and natural highlights that may be off the beaten track and, therefore, may be more difficult to navigate independently. With the unrivalled local knowledge of our expert guides and meticulously planned and inspiring itineraries, guided group trips promise unique and unforgettable experiences.

How big are the group sizes on your tours?

At Exodus, we limit group sizes to ensure a more personalised and intimate experience for each traveller. Depending on the destination and type of tour you choose, the group sizes typically range from 8 to 16 participants. As well as allowing for more personal interactions with the tour leader and fellow travellers, it also means there is less disruption to the places we visit.

Are meals included in group tours?

Most guided group holidays with Exodus include a combination of meals, with breakfast usually provided daily and additional lunches and dinners as specified in the specific itinerary. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice to your trip, and these will be given to the airline and local operators to ensure that your personal requirements are catered for.

How physically demanding are group tours?

We categorise each of our tours based on their level of physical activity, ranging from leisurely trips suitable for all fitness levels to more challenging expeditions designed for experienced adventurers. You can select tours that align with your fitness and activity preferences, and you’ll find further information about the activity levels on our guidelines page. This guide informs you of any challenges you may face, what each activity level means and the factors we take into consideration when grading the trips, such as weather, walking/cycling pace and the intensity of activities.

What is the role of the tour leader?

Our tour leaders play a crucial role in guiding and enhancing your travel experience. Each of our guides is highly experienced, knowledgeable and passionate about the destinations you visit, offering valuable insights, assistance and support throughout the journey. As well as creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages exploration, learning and connection among group members, they also take you away from the crowds to lesser-known places where you’ll enjoy unique experiences and uncover local secrets.

Sardinia is a beautiful island and the south west part where we were is different from other parts of the island – secluded, no celebrities, great mix of beach and nature, and genuine Sardinian food. We had two guides, both were excellent. The tour was well organised, everyone was kept together and safety felt like a priority. I like that they organised snacks and drinks for our stops, including electrolyte drinks! Negatives – we feel this tour doesn’t offer value for money. Pro rata it is one of the most expensive cycling tours in Europe but the accommodation quality was low. Only two working ACs, showers were old and with weak water pressure. When we all arrived, some hotels didn’t have enough hot water so people who went for the shower late ended up having a cold shower. For one hotel where there was no working AC (muma hostel), we were told it was too late at night to call the electrician but they would repair it the next morning (but we were only there for one night!). Later our group leader told us that the AC in that particular room had not been working for the last 2 weeks. There was no offer to move us to a different room. We didn’t appreciate being lied to and will leave a review about this on the hotel’s website. Also note that the support van was small and filled with our bags so there’s only 1-2 spaces for people to sit if anyone decides not to do the hill climb. Though with the e-bikes I think this probably won’t be much of a problem.

Bernadette Bhakti Cycling in Sardinia

I’ve done a few cycling trips over the years with Exodus and loved them all, but this one left me just a little flat. It started well enough, Matera is beautiful and as we cycled out of Matera the scenery was lovely and the sun was shining. But the days that followed were just a little frustrating really. We stayed in a farmhouse for two nights (not the one advertised) and both were lovely, but we arrived each day at around 3:30 and then you have nothing to do for the rest of the day because you’re literally in the middle of nowhere. I wish we had stayed in Ostuni for one of these nights. This also meant we were limited to eating from a basic set menu each night we were in the farmhouses, which was a bit disappointing as the food in this part of Italy can be amazing.

On the plus side we did cycle every day but lots of it felt like it was on busy roads, I wish we could have spent more time on the coast. I also felt we often cycled through a lovely village or town but then stopped for lunch in some very random and not great places. Would have been nice to have a bit more information on some of the towns we stopped in, on previous trips there’s been a little walking tour but not on this one. This could have been so much better, but it just wasn’t. For the first time if someone asked me if they should go on this trip I would say no…..

Steven Phillips Cycling Puglia & Matera

Cycling in the heat, humidity, tropical rain with abundant wildlife with great company, a few cheeky climbs, and relax after in a pool, a gin and good grub. What’s not to like?!!
I’ve only rated it 4 as I am a fussy client and although pre-warned about Costa Rica highways, I was a bit disappointed, and also only one welcome drink in hotels. I expected too much for the cost of the tour in comparison to other tours but that is probably due to cost of petrol over such a distance and return, and 3 bike hires.
