Excellent!

A huge thank you to our fantastic hosts Sol and Tom as well as to our wonderful, knowledgeable tour guide Tim. This was a great week!

Most Inspirational Moment

Each moment when we spotted birds (including a vulture), butterflies, and marmots

Thoughts on Group Leader

He knew the best routes, told us about the history and nature of the Mont Blanc area, was patient, helpful, and humorous - thank you, Tim!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Highly recommended if you like to delve around the French and Italian pre-Alps

Mont Blanc Highlights

A brilliant week, well looked after by chalet hosts and expert guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

Enjoyed the walk options, particularly the linear walks all whilst returning back to the chalet each evening.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Group Leader provided good guidance and was very knowledgeable about the local area and fauna. The chalet hosts provided a very warm welcome, the cleanliness and standard of the food was excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack at wide brimmed sun hat.

AMAZING!!!

This week was absolutely perfect. You get to see the best parts of the TMB, and each hike itself was different with a different perspective/landscape! Our hosts, Tom and Sol, did an amazing job making us delicious food and hosting us all week. It was so wonderful staying in the same spot all week!

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the Alps for the first time when the clouds cleared on our way up to Lake Blanc!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adrian was INCREDIBLE!!! He was the best leader we ever, and he looked after us, joked with us, and kept high energy even when he was tired.

Advice for Potential Travellers

As a fit 27 year old, the week was a good combination of hiking and rest. I had injured my knee the week before, but I was able to complete all of the hikes with no problems. If I had been at full health, I could have completed a difficulty level of 4 or 5 out of 7. My group was incredibly kind and came together as a team looking out for one another immediately. I would recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys mountains, hiking for 6-7 hours a day, and good food! We had people in our group in their 60s and 70s who were also able to successfully complete all of the hikes. They had trained beforehand or were regularly exercising already so they were ready!

Mont Blanc Highlights

Very enjoyable week

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching top of Aiguillette des Pousettes

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very good.

Advice for Potential Travellers

A good trip

Breathtaking

The scenery in the Chamonix valley is stunning and this trip is well named as it certainly highlighted the highlights. Our group stayed in Chalet Chapula and we couldn’t have asked for better hosts or chalet companions.
Laura and Gonzalo provided us with excellent meals every day and were very approachable and helpful. Les Houches is a busy but laid back area of Chamonix and a great location to start our walks from.

Most Inspirational Moment

Every day was different and presented us with stunning views throughout the hikes but the lunch stop on L'Aiguillette des Posettes was breathtaking with views towards Switzerland.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adrian was a fantastic leader with a brilliant sense of humour and a great rapport with everyone in our group. His knowledge of the routes and his repartee as we walked was a joy.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Mer de Glace is a fantastic option on the free day and well worth the cost of the short train journey up from Chamonix.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

An unbelievably beautiful part of the world, crossing corners of three countries each as beautiful as each other. Based in Les Houches, just 20 minutes outside Chamonix, we stayed in Chalet Chalupa, a modern, spacious comfortable chalet with all the amenities you would need and more. Big bedrooms, all with en-suite and most with a balcony. A hot tub outside for relaxing the aching bones after the walks just adds to the luxury.
Whilst we were a bit out of Chamonix, the public bus service was excellent, every 30 minutes promptly. Equally, there is plenty on offer in Les Houches if you want to stay local to the chalet.
Our hosts, Laura and Gonzalo, had treats to welcome us, provided breakfast, lunch (packed) and dinner of excellent standards every day (apart from the free day of course when breakfast is provided but not lunch or dinner). We didn’t go hungry!

Most Inspirational Moment

Unfortunately, I was carrying an injury so wasn’t able to do any of the walks, but I was welcomed with open arms by Laura and Gonzalo, our hosts, who immediately made me feel so welcome. I very quickly felt like a member of the family and by making me so comfortable they contributed to the enjoyment of my break to the extent we parted as friends. The walks, from seeing my partner’s photos, looked stunning and this was backed up by the comments from the rest of the group.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adrian was brilliant! A pleasure to be around, he integrated well with the group, he was extremely knowledgable about the area as well as very funny! He is a credit to Exodus and any group is lucky to have him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring all weather clothes, there’s snow on some of the walks (apparently!) and, whilst we had good weather for the most part, there were some stormy days and heavy rain at times.

Wonderful Walks

I really loved the week. The walks were stunning, and it was great to be able to have to plan nothing, just be taken for amazing day walks. More solo walkers in the group than I had expected which was good for me being one myself (rather than being the odd one out amongst couples) and the group were really good company. I stayed in Chalet Chocolat, the location was great, a 20 min walk outside the lovely Chamonix, or a few mins on the train the station for which is just a couple of minutes away (and you are given a weeks ticket on arrival). The food provided was very tasty (many thanks Sol and Tomas), the bedrooms a bit basic but wasn’t staying for a luxury trip, rather for the walking so that was fine, and they were ensuite which is what matters for me. Highly recommended, I just wish I could do the week for the first time again.

Most Inspirational Moment

So many stunning views.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tim was an excellent leader, organised, informative, interesting and managed a group of different speed walkers really well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Although the walks aren't too long or too much of a climb a good level of fitness is of course beneficial to be able to enjoy the walking and scenery rather than it being a challenge each day. Unless of course you are there for a challenge. I was there for the scenery, which was frequently breath taking.

The best of the best

Fabulous day hikes with the comforts of the same bed for the length of the trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

Discussions during group meals reminiscing the day.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mike was AWESOME!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Wear a bright colored shirt or coat as it makes your pictures more spectacular.

Wonderful Mont Blanc

As we have always found with Exodus this trip was well organised with good accommodation and a varied programme of walks. We had the added bonus of sharing the trip with a nice group of people. We stayed at Chalet Chalupa and enjoyed Les Houches which is a little further out from Chamonix but all the transport worked well as the trip covers all parts of the valley. We took advantage of the hot tub on several occasions after the days walking!

Most Inspirational Moment

Mont Blanc from various viewpoints but in particular from the Aguille Du Midi which we visited on the rest day. We bought a multipass ticket so we were also able to visit the ice cave in the glacier at Montenvers. We very much enjoyed all the walking days especially the trip over the border to the Italian side.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Maria is an excellent guide and looked after all our individual needs on the walking days and at other times. We all found him fun to walk with. We did the walks pretty much as there trip notes but Maria varied the order in view of the weather and other factors which meant we got the best from each day. We invariably had our lunch at the highest point after the morning's climb so to enjoy the best views. Special mention too to our hosts Gon and Lau, our drivers, chefs and general nursemaids. They prepared excellent meals for us and kept the honesty bar topped up!

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is covered well by other reviews but if you can extend your holiday either side of the trip (we did both) On return to the airport we stayed an extra night at the NH Airport Hotel which provides free airport transfer both ways and free travel passes for the tram to Geneva centre. There is also an Alpine garden walking distance from the hotel.
