As a parent it’s a proud moment when your child wobbles off on two wheels for the first time. And we all know that once they’ve started, there’s no stopping them! Our family cycling holidays are designed to bring you closer together as you set off on thrilling adventures exploring diverse landscapes and learning about new cultures along the way.
If you’re a freewheeling family that loves to ride, then one of our cycling holidays for families is the perfect choice. Because our tours follow self-guided routes with carefully planned itineraries to avoid traffic-heavy spots, you and your family can cycle in safety – and going self-guided also gives you the freedom to travel at your own pace. You’ll be able to cycle as fast or as slow as you like, and all your bags will be transferred ahead so you can pack without worrying about the weight slowing you down.
Discover the ridiculously beautiful scenery of the Cotes du Rhone as you cycle through sprawling vineyards, lavender fields and lush orchards, stopping at pretty villages and towns along the way where you can sample some of the French cuisine. Or head into the hills of Provence and explore the landscape that has inspired world-famous artists such as Van Gogh, Cezanne and Picasso.
We also offer a selection of family cycling holidays in Portugal, Italy and Spain, which take you on tours of Europe’s most picturesque scenery. As you ride along pristine coastal paths, breathe in the warm Mediterranean air, and stop off at local villages to sample some of the traditional dishes that each destination has to offer.

Most Beautiful Destinations to Explore on Cycling Holidays for Families
Algarve: The Algarve has become one of Portugal’s top destinations for many reasons: wildly beautiful coastlines, sleepy fishing villages, diverse wildlife and verdant interiors. There’s so much more to the Algarve than soft, sandy beaches drenched in the Mediterranean sun, and you’ll be spoilt for choice with the endless cycling routes that wind through flower-filled meadows and along scenic coastal roads. Steering you away from the honey-pot areas that are popular with the tourists, enjoy cycling on quiet trails that meander beneath rugged cliffs where endemic birds circle overhead. Even in the winter months the Algarve has warm temperatures which make for perfect conditions on cycling holidays. Many of the villages you’ll encounter seem to have stood still in time and give you an insight into the traditional Portuguese way of life.
Provence: Arguably the most gorgeous region of France, Provence has rightly earned its bragging rights when it comes to aesthetic beauty. Picture aromatic lavender fields that lie below hilltop villages, colourful landscapes that have been immortalised in artworks created by the likes of Picasso and Van Gogh, and olive groves that lie below the gaze of mountains. Provence really does have it all. And you can’t cycle through the region without visiting one of the vineyards and sampling some of the world-famous wines (strictly for the adults, of course!) Be sure to visit the medieval villages of Gordes and Bonnieux on your trip to understand more about Provence’s past and enjoy the breath-taking vistas of Luberon.
Puglia: There are so many places in Italy that will leave you stunned by their beauty but Puglia particularly lends itself to cycling holidays due to its diversity. While one day you could be exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Alberobello and its trulli houses, the next you could be riding along the Salento coast to Lecce, which is know as the ‘Florence of the South’ because of its imposing 18th-century buildings. Discover the golden beaches that are gently lapped by the waters of the Adriatic and hang out with the locals at one of the colourful fishing villages before heading inland through vineyards, olive groves and orchards. Conversano is strewn with sun-ripened fruit trees, tomato vines and pepper plants, all ripe for the picking.
Catalonia: Home to world-class cuisine, unique traditions and the Pyrenean mountains, Catalonia feels a world apart from the more touristy hot spots of Spain, and it even has its own language. The landscapes range from fertile meadows and glistening lakes to windswept coves and volcanic cones, making a diverse backdrop for cycling holidays. Much of the routes provide gentle rides and are ideal for less experienced cyclists and in particular families with younger children. Explore pretty villages and towns, and rural countryside strewn in olive groves and peach orchards where you can go at your own pace and lap up the idyllic scenery.
