Last minute tours departing in August
It may be nearing the end of summer but that doesn’t mean the adventures end here. With temperatures decreasing and crowds thinning out in bucket list destinations across Europe and further afield, August is one of the best times to book a last-minute getaway!
For something a bit different, August is one of the best months to head out on our Kyrgyzstan Walking Explorer, as there’s little to no rainfall, and all the trails are accessible and carpeted with beautiful wildflowers. The end of August is also a great time to join our Tuscany Walks & Chianti Wines trip, as the summer crowds have lessened and if you’re lucky you may even see the beginning of the Tuscany grape harvest, as wine producers usually start the collection between late August through late October.
Cyclists looking to head further afield should perhaps think about booking our Cycling Indonesia’s Islands adventure that takes you on a circular route from Ubud towards the slopes of Ijen volcano and back to Canggu. It’s one of the driest months of the year in Bali, and with temperatures averaging between 23-31°C, it makes for excellent conditions to cycle past rice paddies, ornate temples and villages.
If you want to go on a wildlife adventure, August presents an ideal time to head to British Columbia. Not only are the summer months great for observing grizzly bears fishing for salmon, but it’s also a prime time for catching sightings of humpback whales, orcas and gray whales in the Salish Sea and off the coast of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve – and you can see both places on our Whales & Bears of British Columbia trip.
So, if you want to soak up that last bit of summer, why not book a last-minute getaway in August? Check out our list below to get inspired.
