This trip provided a very varied experience showcasing both the animals and the scenery of the countries we passed through. We weren’t sure what to expect from camping in Africa and the facilities on offer, although basic at times, surpassed our expectations. We did the trip from 16 June – 5 July, and benefitted from seeing Victoria Falls in full flow, uncrowded campsites and great weather (though a couple of nights and early mornings were cold until the sun was up). Not sure if we were just lucky, but we saw no rain until Cape Town. Every day provided a new adventure and made the early starts and long journeys on some days absolutely worth it. We couldn’t have asked for a better ‘introduction’ to Africa.

Katie Illingworth Victoria Falls to Cape Town – Camping
Vivienne Hodgins Bosnia & BeyondThis was one of the best Exodus holidays I have been on…and I’ve been on a few! The guide really was excellent and made the trip fun, interesting and unforgettable. He really knows the region , both its history and the natural environment. The bus was very comfortable and spacious which made the journey undemanding. There were 16 of us in the group and we all enjoyed the trip .The hotels were good and we didn’t move on every day which was good. It’s a full on trip so not much time is spent in the hotel. Breakfasts were very good and the location of the hotels meant it was easy to go out on your own. The itinerary is varied… Sarajevo and Dubrovnik are great cities. Mostar ,although very busy, is a must see and the smaller places especially in the mountains were fascinating.
Christopher Mather Cycle Indochina & AngkorThis was a good adventure through three countries, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Starting with Thailand, the first day’s cycling had a mix of temples to see as well as cycling but I felt that day 2 and 3 we were just cycling to get out of Thailand with not much to see and was a bit boring. Cambodia was amazing with not just the amazing Angkor complex, but also the more sombre sights of Phnom Penh, S-21 and the Killing Fields, where our local guide’s personal stories really made you think. Vietnam was different again, with much better scenery for cycling and a lovely stay in the Mekong Delta. Saigon, you are left to explore on your own. I visited the War Remnants museum and the Independence Palace, which both were an interesting visit. The local teams who organised the cycling, were well organised with a special shout out to the Vietnam team, though their roads were the bumpiest.
FAQs about our Cultural Adventures
Our tours offer a way of experiencing your ideal holiday as part of a larger group.
Choose your ideal tour, your departure dates, and whether you want flights included. Your selected trip notes will include details of the itinerary, accommodation, weather, food, and transport. Plus, other practical information to prepare you for the trip.
Depending on your chosen tour, you’ll spend one to three weeks exploring your selected destination with a range of organised activities. Some of your trip will be allocated as free time to enable you to discover the area at your own leisure.
Our small guided-group tours are led by experienced local experts and normally have around 8-16 people in one group. We pride ourselves on having an interest-packed itinerary that’s been fine-tuned to showcase the highlights and hidden gems your destination has to offer.
We also like to encourage an inclusive atmosphere with our guided-group adventures, so most days are spent taking part in daily activities with your group. When it comes to mealtimes, check your trip notes to see what breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are included in our itineraries.
On some evenings, your guide will accompany you to dinner and help you choose which regional specialities to try. However, we also like to include some downtime and free days on our trips. This gives you the freedom to explore as you like and heed the guidance of our local expert, who will give great suggestions of where to eat and the best museums and local art galleries to visit. They can also help you organise optional activities like kayaking, ziplining, and more.
We’re lucky to have travellers joining us from all over the world, with many coming from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, in a wide range of ages. And what’s more, over 50% of our customers choose to travel solo with us so we rarely have a group that only has one solo traveller – most comprise a good mix of solos, couples, and friends travelling together.
Prior to your trip, you’ll be invited to join our “Departure Lounge” by email, where you can post a message, start a discussion with other travellers, ask questions, and share travel tips. This is a great way to get to know your group before you head off on your adventure.
Our tour groups normally have 8-16 people in them. We find that this is an ideal number as it’s not too large and allows everyone to get to know each other.
Your leader will usually meet you at the destination airport and the entire group will get together for the first time at the specified start hotel. This will be detailed in your itinerary and trip notes.
Each trip is given an activity rating which will help you decide if the tour is right for you.
Our ratings relate to fitness levels, expected weather conditions, and the schedule pace, amongst other factors. It’s important to find out the activity level of the tour before booking to make sure it’s one you’re comfortable with.
On our adventures, we offer twin-shared rooms with you and another solo traveller of the same gender in your group.
If you’d like the flexibility to book your own private room for the duration of your trip, for a small added charge, you can choose to add a single supplement to your booking over the phone or online on many of our trips.
