Amazing Adventure in Jordan

Jordan has been on my bucket list for a long time and this trip ticked all my boxes!  It was eye-opening as we visited all the UNESCO sites of Jordan and visiting the castles, church ruins and learning about the influence from the Bronze Age, Roman, Byzantine and Umayya. The preserved Mosaics were a highlight too! Despite what is going on in neighbouring countries, we felt very safe. Sadly, due to the ongoing conflict is having an impact on tourism and locals, so the Jordanians  needs us more than ever! This did mean we had most of the sites to ourselves such as the baptism site & the Treasury!

We stayed at Mujib Chalet which meant we were away from the big hotels and was able to enjoy the Dead Sea for ourselves, and it was only a few mins walk from our chalet. The sunset here was magical! The food were delicious, everyone was catered for (veggies and meat), the humous was the best we ever tried! We also visited during the harvest of olives (happens from late Oct- early Dec) so be prepared to get fresh olives wherever you go 🙂

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many to choose from! But here are some of my personal highlights: 1. Floating in the dead sea as the sun was setting away from the crowds and tranquillity 2. Driving through the wadi rum in the 4x4 and sitting in Wadi Rum as we looked over the sand dunes and you realise how vast the landscape is 3. Everyday, we saw some of the most brightest and colourful sunset 4. Stargazing in Wadi rum and unexpectedly, in other areas of Jordan such as Azraq & Ajloun 5. Eating with the local families and being warmly welcomed into their home

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ayyad was great! He was able to answer all our questions on the history and culture of Jordan. He bought local sweets on the bus drive for us to try and so many other local treats such as local bananas, dried preserved grape & Jordanian pizza!

Advice for Potential Travellers

- Go with an open mind and be ready for anything. You will have the best time exploring the amazing culture and history this country has. - Bring walking poles and good walking shoes if you're hiking in Petra. - Bring a warm fleece/jacket for the early morning starts as it's chilly. - Bring snorkelling gear if you plan to snorkel in Aquaba otherwise you'll need to rent one for 7 dinar.
