Yes, technology is taking over our lives… but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. These days there are countless apps available to improve your travel experience. With a simple gesture you’ll be able to tell everything from your current altitude to whether your plane is on time.

Maps, GPS, the locations of local restaurants and hotels, weather forecasts… you name it. The world is changing, and the way we see the world is changing too. Do your research, download all the apps you think you’ll need, and stay on top of your adventure. A few of our recommended apps: Walkmeter, Strava, Flight Scanner, Around me, Google maps.

All that fancy technology is no good if you run out of power! Keeping devices charged is enough of a hassle in day-to-day life. Whilst abroad this can be particularly challenging. This is where portable chargers come in.

With these handy devices, you can keep yourself powered up wherever you go. There are numerous varieties for different circumstances, from solar-powered chargers (such as the Powermonkey) for sunny climates, to devices use your own energy whilst cycling to generate an electrical charge!

There are a lucky few people who can sleep wherever and whenever they please. For the rest of us, earplugs and eye masks are must-have travel accessories.

This is the simple solution to block out snores and irksome lights and all other distractions that can interrupt a good night’s rest.

Sometimes it rains, and despite your best efforts and preparations, things will get wet; keep your valuables dry with sealable plastic bags.

These are also handy for taking liquids through customs, keeping money organised and separate and even saving food from breakfast for later! (Don’t tell anyone we said that.) For something more substantial, why not try dry bags?

Unfortunately, the reality of illness is something that most of us will have to deal with at some point during our travels. It’s always best to be prepared for this eventuality.
