This is the southernmost state of Mexico, a fascinating mix of cool highlands, coast and tropical forest. Some of the most dramatic landscapes in the country can be found here, and top of the list is the magnificent 1500m-deep Sumidero Canyon.
Chiapas is home to many of the finest sites of the Mayans and there’s a unique cultural mix here, of modern Mexico and the beliefs of the people who lived there before Cortes and the Spaniards arrived. This is best witnessed in San Cristóbal de las Casas, a delightful town high in the hills, which we visit on our Chiapas tours.

M B Mexico: Maya, Aztecs & ConquistadorsCovered a large amount of Mexico , lots of historical sites of varying sizes and complexity. Mini bus rear seats unusable ( thats 4 seats ) until some pillows were purchased to assist in sitting upright, visibility from the rear seats was severely restricted. We operated a voluntary rota system which most people complied with. Differences between various cities afforded multiple perspectives of passage through time of various civilisations.
