Amazon Rainforest

Deep in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, the trees quiver and shake with the sheer amount of wildlife that makes its home here. Immerse yourself in the sensory joy of the jungle and the shrieks, squawks and song of the 1,500 bird species found in the Amazon basin.
The canopy here can be as high as 70m off the ground, and more than 40,000 species of plants can be found here. It’s this sheer variety which makes the rainforest so important, and such a privilege to visit.

Mangrove Forest
A forest that grows directly from the water, mangroves are best explored by boat. It’s one of the most relaxing ways to see a forest, gently drifting between the twisted roots that emerge from the water in seemingly impossible fashion.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Gorilla in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Apart from the allure and challenge of the title, the Impenetrable Forest holds other secrets. Here, you can trek through the dense foliage in the company of an experienced guide, armed with a machete to carve a route through the thick undergrowth in search of silverback gorillas.
It’s an experience that often tops travellers’ bucket lists, and with good reason: an hour with a gorilla family is something you’ll never forget.

Japan’s bamboo forests exude tranquility. These peaceful places are perfect for strolling, the most famous of which are close to the beautiful Kyoto – a wonderfully calm escape from the hustle and bustle of Japanese city life, especially if you’re travelling with your family.

Nepalese Rhododendron Forests
Though it’s easy to think of the beautiful blooms of rhododendron as a staple of the English country garden, there are few sights more pleasing than ascending the Himalayan trails surrounded by beautiful brightly coloured rhododendrons.
In season these flowers line the trails, an absolutely stunning sight for trekkers in late March and April.

Peruvian Cloud Forest
As any Andean trekker will tell you, the cloud forests of Peru are a sight to behold. Clinging to the edges of the huge Andes mountains, and accompanying walkers taking on the world-famous Inca Trail these atmospheric forests are as poetic as the name suggests.
The dense mists that swirl around these canopies are a photographic dream, with their dramatic curls making for some unforgettable sights.
