This trip covers so many interesting & beautiful places. Our guide was great & really enthusiastic about showing us so much of both Bosnia & Montenegro and ensuring we had a taste of the history & culture of both countries. The bus rides between destinations were in themselves really interesting passing amazing scenery (with loads of opportunity for pictures) & our guide giving us history along the way. Hotels were nice & in most locations stayed a few nights giving you a chance to get out and see the different towns. It is a varied itinerary with both beautiful & historic towns to explore & mountain walks to enjoy.

Sarajevo is a fascinating cultural cocktail of various occupying empires. It spent more than 400 years under Turkish governorship, until the Austro-Hungarians arrived in the late 19th century, thus Ottoman and Byzantine references can be found all over the city. And it was here that, 40 years later, the empire collapsed when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, hastening the outbreak of the First World War.
During the 1990s the city was beseiged and on the point of being wiped out; on Sarajevo tours we visit the Tunnel Museum, finding out how a hand-dug tunnel provided the city’s citizens with a lifeline during their 1400 days of isolation. These days, Sarajevo is largely resorted and the Old Town is filled with pretty cafés, squares and churches.
