- Where to Travel in April
Spending time in Japan to see the cherry blossom makes it one of the best places to travel in early April. It’s also when Everest treks are in full flow and Jordan isn’t too hot for hiking and biking.
JAPAN
Witness the world-famous cherry blossom
The delicate cherry blossom is the iconic flower of Japan and when it blooms it’s a spectacle that rightly features on many bucket lists. Swathes of powder pink flowers emerge for an all-too-short window, between mid-March and early April and can be seen across the nation from Toyko and Kyoto and beyond. Typically, the blooms emerge in the south first, moving northwards. You can experience the cherry blossom season, and so much more, on our Ancient & Modern Japan trip or Highlights of Japan. NEPAL
Excellent conditions for mountain treks
In April, the days are long in Nepal – ideal for expeditions. Given it’s the dry season, it’s also a great time of year to spot wildlife in the national parks. Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trek, like our Everest Base Camp Trek, or immerse yourself in the culture of Nepal as you hike between mountain lodges in the Annapurna foothills and spot rhinos and crocodiles in Chitwan National Park on Annapurna to Chitwan: Walks & Wildlife. Timing your trip to Nepal with an April departure is an excellent choice. View all our Nepal trips here
JORDAN
Get active in the Jordanian springtime
The temperature in Jordan throughout April is warm but usually not too hot, so it’s a perfect time for active trips, making it a real contender for the best place to travel in April. Better still, the spring blooms are in full colour, especially in the north, making the scenery beautifully lush and colourful. In the Wadi Rum desert, the temperatures tend not to rise too high. In fact, nights can be decidedly chilly. Experience it yourself on our Petra & Wadi Rum Trek or Petra & Wadi Rum by Bike. View all our Jordan trips here
SPAIN
Appreciate the history and culture of Spain
With pleasant temperatures and less rainfall, this month is a great time to retrace the footsteps of ancient pilgrims on our Camino de Santiago Trek, which covers the last 150km leg from Samos to Santiago de Compostela. In April, the snow recedes in the Andalusian mountains leaving beautiful meadows of red, purple and yellow wildflowers making it the perfect time to hike through Sierra Nevada & Granada. This month is also an exciting time to visit Seville, as the city celebrates its biggest festival, Feria. View all our Spain trips here
UZBEKISTAN
Discover the ancient Silk Road
In springtime, it’s sunny and dry, and temperatures sit comfortably around the mid to late twenties, making it ideal for exploring the country’s historical trading cities. Visit the Registan Square in Samarkand and the mausoleum of Ismail Samani in Bukhara, one of the oldest surviving Islamic monuments in Central Asia on our Silk Road trip or choose our Uzbekistan Uncovered itinerary to also spend time in Khiva, so you can explore its UNESCO-worthy palaces, mosques and madrasas within the walls of Itchan Kala.
