- Where to Travel in October
While Madagascar is one of the best places to travel in October to see baby ring-tailed lemurs, it’s also a terrific month to head to Albania or witness the beautiful autumn colours in South Korea.
MADAGASCAR
Spot baby ring-tailed lemurs
October is an excellent month to visit Madagascar. The temperatures are rising, and the lemurs come out to play – you might even spot some baby ring-railed lemurs born in October. Our Madagascan Discoverer and Highlights of Madagascar are fantastic trips to make the most of this opportunity. Or Cycle Madagascar to enjoy rewarding long rides through incredible landscapes with downtime on white-sand beaches beneath warm and sunny skies. View all Madagascar trips here
SOUTH KOREA
Witness the beautiful autumn colours
Temperatures across South Korea are rather lovely in October. The summer heat has subsided, but the bitter temperatures of December onwards are way off, making it an ideal time for exploring the Seoraksan National Park in the Seorak Mountains. It’s also one of the best places to travel in October, as you can see the spectacular autumn foliage of crimson reds, burnt oranges and golden leaves framing the country’s temples. See it for yourself on our Discover South Korea trip. View all South Korea trips here
ALBANIA
Explore the ‘Maldives of Europe’
Albania is becoming an increasingly popular destination to visit thanks to its outstanding natural beauty, unspoilt coastline and impressive historical sights. This month, temperatures sit comfortably in the early twenties, making it perfect for discovering the country’s riviera and mountain plateaus on two wheels. Walking tours around Tirana and Llogara National Park on our Highlights of Albania trip are particularly pleasant this time of year too. View all Albania trips here
TANZANIA
Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
Although climbing Mount Kilimanjaro year-round is possible, October is an excellent month to consider embarking on the expedition, as it’s before the rainy season begins but after the most popular months of July and August. You can even time your climb to coincide with the full moon on our Kilimanjaro Climb – Lemosho Route or take the lesser-known Kilimanjaro Climb – Rongai Route. View all Tanzania trips here
CAMBODIA
Visit temples without the crowds
October marks the tail end of the rainy season, so you’ll see the humidity drop slightly with temperatures averaging around 27°C, making it a great shoulder season month to book your trip. There are fewer crowds too so you can enjoy incredible sites like Angkor Wat Complex and the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh almost to yourself. Discover this slice of Southeast Asia on our Cambodia Adventure or Thai Indochina Explorer. View all Cambodia trips here
