The Blue Lagoon
Blue Lagoon Trips
The otherworldly Blue Lagoon in Iceland is the world’s best-known geothermal spa. Minerals in the water render it a milky blue, and with the temperature in the swimmable area around 40C, clouds of steam rise from the surface. Bubbling up from subterranean sources, the soothing, mineral-rich water has curative powers – an afternoon wallowing in the waters turns your skin silky soft. Plaster yourself with the mineral-laden mud, let your shoulders be pummelled by the waterfall, swim and use the sauna. Many of our tours to Iceland include Blue Lagoon trips – but if there isn’t one in the itinerary, there’s usually time to fit a visit on the free day.
