When is the best time to travel to Jordan?

This depends on the type of holiday you wish to experience as well as your preferred climate and temperature.

Typically, most travellers find that spring and autumn are the ideal times of year to embark on a trip to Jordan. The months of March to May offer warm days and cooler evenings, making this a perfect time for adventure holidays that include cycling, trekking, and sight-seeing. If you want to avoid any late seasonal rainfall, it’s recommended to travel closer to April or May.

However, spring also marks the arrival of the khamseen, a hot, dry wind that creates sand storms and envelops the land in sand for a short period of time. This can also cause temperatures to rapidly increase. Although it can last for 50 days across some countries in the Middle East, Jordan usually only experiences this phenomenon for a few days.

September and October also offer a comfortable climate for trips to Jordan with temperatures cooling off after the dizzying heights of summer, where they often reach 40 degrees.

Popular locations, such as Petra, often become busier during spring and autumn. So, if you want to avoid the height of the tourist season, and don’t mind braving the slightly cooler conditions, the start of November is a great alternative.

It’s also worth noting that Ramadan (usually late March-April) can sometimes cause minor disruptions to the local routine.

How long is the flight to Jordan?

To fly to Jordan from the UK, you’ll need to travel from London Gatwick  to the capital Amman, located in the northwest of the country. According to Skyscanner, flights take up to five and a half hours.

Where are the best places to visit in Jordan?

This depends on your interests and the type of trip you want to experience, but some of the most popular and impressive locations to visit on a holiday in Jordan are:

Petra: this grand, ancient, and mysterious city is a must-visit for those on a Jordan tour. One of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, Petra is Jordan’s most visited spot.

Jerash ruins: situated close to the capital, Amman, the well-preserved Roman city of Jerash will leave you in awe as you walk through temples, an arena, columns, and magnificent structures.

Aqaba: For a more relaxed trip to Jordan, Aqaba offers a beachside holiday vibe on the edge of the Red Sea.

Ajloun forest: In this stunning reserve you’ll discover local culture, tight-knit communities, and a plethora of wildlife. It’s a unique contrast to ancient ruins and historical landmarks.

Madaba: Also known as the city of mosaics, this beautiful, colourful destination is home to a large Christian community. It also features wonderful handmade crafts, perfect for gifts or souvenirs.

What can I wear in Jordan?

You’ll want to consider both practicality and culture when thinking about what clothes to take on a holiday to Jordan.

While you can, in theory, wear what you want in Jordan, you should take clothing suitable to the activities you’ll be doing and that are temperature appropriate. To respect the local Muslim culture, you should also dress conservatively and consider covering up the legs, arms, and chest. It’s a good idea to try and avoid shorts and skirts, unless by the beach. Choose lightweight fabrics that will offer more comfort, especially in hotter weather and ensure you take sturdy, suitable footwear for walking around cities and landmarks.

How should I plan a trip to Jordan?

Planning a trip to Jordan with Exodus is easy. Simply choose your ideal tour from our exciting selection and pick your departure dates – just make sure your chosen tour is suitable for your activity level.

Because most aspects of our Jordan holidays are organised for you, all you’ll need to do is read your tour notes to make sure you’re fully prepared. Your trip notes will feature everything you need to plan for your adventure including visa information, any vaccine requirements, and food options. Ensure you read the essential notes, so you know exactly what to take with you and where you’ll meet your guide.

What does a family tour of Jordan look like?

Imagine ancient cities drenched in history, sprawling deserts where castles rise majestically from the sand, and archaeological wonders that give you an insight into the country’s intriguing past – this is just a taster of what our Jordan holidays offer.

Because our itineraries are packed with exhilarating adventures, Jordan is a fabulous place for a family holiday. From camping beneath the stars at the UNESCO-listed Wadi Rum and floating in the Dead Sea, to discovering the Lost City of Petra, every minute of our Jordan tours is exciting.

Both children and adults will love the electric atmosphere at the gladiator show in the Roman city of Jerash, or perhaps they’d prefer the thrill of the water slides at Saraya Water Park? And for a soul-stirring experience, an overnight stay with stargazing at a traditional Bedouin camp will create unforgettable memories.

How many days do you need in Jordan?

Owing to the number of amazing sights in Jordan, you’re going to need a minimum of eight days to make the most of your trip. We provide tours of Jordan ranging from eight to 12 days to ensure you have ample time to explore the main sights and get a deeper insight into the country’s history and culture.

Is seven days in Jordan enough?

We’d recommend booking trips to Jordan that are a minimum of eight days so that you can get the most out of your time in this incredible country, especially as the flights are quite lengthy.

Are Jordan holidays all-inclusive?

While you can book all-inclusive Jordan trips, at Exodus we focus more on giving you the best experience possible by introducing you to the most iconic sights as well as hidden treasures.

Each of our Jordan tours gives you a clear description of what is and isn’t included and there are also additional activities available. Because our tours of Jordan often allow you free time to explore on your own, you might want to enjoy additional meals that aren’t included in the itinerary.
