Our top Namibia tour experiences

  1. Wildlife: One of the main attractions of our trips to Namibia is the abundance of wildlife. Our safari tours bring you up close with a vast array of impressive and extraordinary animals and bird species, creating lasting memories.
  2. Fish River Canyon: One of the largest canyons in the southern hemisphere, a Namibia tour to this landmark will feel out of this world. With breath-taking views and rugged terrain, this natural geological formation will leave you in awe.
  3. Camping: Immerse yourself in the African wilderness with one of our camping in Namibia trips. Delve into the local culture at the German colonial resort of Swakopmund, where you can visit the craft markets and learn about Namibian traditions. It’s also an excellent location for adventure holidays in Namibia, with an activity centre nearby.
  4. Cycling over sand dunes: Embark on a Namibia tour by bike with Exodus and you’ll have the opportunity to cycle over vast sand dunes on a ‘fat’ bike. Cycling across the African landscape is a great way to experience this country’s wildlife and truly be at one with nature.

FAQs on Namibia Holidays

What is the best time to go to Namibia?

Different seasons offer different benefits, so you’ll want to consider this when booking holidays to Namibia. Summer in Namibia is opposite to that of the UK and during, July and August, nights can be extremely cold even though daytime temperatures are warm.

If witnessing the incredible wildlife on Namibia tours is your main priority, we’d recommend visiting between July and August as there are fewer water sources for the animals. You’ll see a whole host of wildlife, such as elephants, zebra, wildebeest and giraffes gathering around the waterhole in Etosha National Park.

Although the wet season falls between November and February, this isn’t necessarily a bad time to visit as the desert is more fertile and there’ll be an abundance of birdlife to see.

If you’d rather avoid the wet season on your Namibia holiday, you’re best travelling between May and October when there’s plenty of sunshine and blue skies. September and October experience little rainfall and mild temperatures of around 20°C. These months can get busy as it’s the peak time for Namibia safari holidays.

Where's the best place to go on holiday in Namibia?

The best location for a Namibia tour depends on your interests and what you want to experience. Safari trips are popular and Etosha National Park is a favourite for wildlife watchers visiting Namibia. If you want to enjoy expansive, awe-inspiring views, natural landscapes and beautiful sunsets, then the sand dunes at Sossusvlei and the Fish River Canyon are must-visits.

If you can’t choose just one destination, it’s possible to combine multiple locations on a Namibia trip with Exodus. Our expert local guides will ensure you get the most out of your tour and fully experience the nature, wildlife and culture that the country has to offer.

Is Namibia good for tourists?

Like many other countries, there is a degree of crime in Namibia. But overall it’s a relatively safe place for tourists. While you might associate vast deserts with Namibia, there is so much more to discover. It also has the extraordinary Skeleton Coast, which is a national park strewn with shipwrecks and the bones of whales and seals. It is also home to diverse wildlife.

Etosha National Park is one of the greatest wildlife-viewing regions in Africa. It’s where tourists go for Namibia safari holidays to spot elephants, big cats, giraffes and black rhinos in their natural habitat.

How many days do you need in Namibia?

We offer a variety of Namibia tours ranging from 12 to 20 days, allowing you to experience as much as you can of the country without rushing. Our itineraries are packed with safaris and immersive adventures that give you a fascinating insight into the history, culture and wildlife of Namibia.

What should I wear on holiday in Namibia?

Whatever time of year you’re travelling to Namibia, it’s a good idea to pack layers. If you’re embarking on a Namibia safari holiday, you’ll need to pack clothing such as long-sleeve tops, shorts, trousers, waterproofs, jumpers and comfortable footwear. These should be neutral in colour to enable you to view the wildlife easily. You should also take a hat to provide protection from the sun.

Namibia trips typically require casual dress styles, so there’s usually no need to take much in the form of smart attire. However, if your tour includes a stay in Cape Town, you might want to consider taking clothing options for evening meals out and sightseeing during the day.

Is Namibia an expensive country to travel to?

While Namibia tour costs are not particularly cheap, prices will vary depending on your chosen trip and activities, the time of year, and the length of your stay. Once there, you’ll find local prices are reasonable. Many of our Namibia holidays include all aspects such as accommodation, transport, food and activities, so there will be few other costs once you’re there. There’s also the option to include flights when you book with Exodus.

Can you do a safari in Namibia?

Home to some of the greatest creatures in the world, Namibia is without a doubt the place to go for safaris. Whether you want to enjoy a game drive through Etosha National Park, go in search of black rhinos at Palmwag Concession, or witness desert elephants at the Hoanib River, our safari tours are brimming with Namibian wildlife.

How much does a safari in Namibia cost?

If you want to experience wildlife tours of the national parks, explore the deserts and enjoy exciting outdoor activities, you won’t get much change from £2,000 for a two-week trip. But it’s well worth spending that little bit extra to get the most out of your Namibia safari holiday.

Where can I see lions in Namibia?

Etosha National Park is one of the few places in the world that’s home to wild lions and is a crucial area for their conservation. You might also spot one of these magnificent creatures swimming in the Okavango Delta.

What wildlife is in Namibia?

Namibia’s wildlife is prolific and our tours guide you to all the best viewing spots. Some of the most impressive animals you might come across during Namibia safari holidays include:
