Adventure Holidays in Wales

With a seemingly endless amount of rugged mountain trails, historic train tracks, rejuvenated seaside towns and World Heritage castles speckled throughout the country – Wales holds its own. An extensive network of nature walks and way-marked paths makes Wales a hiker and cyclists paradise. Our holidays in Wales are designed to guide you towards some of the country’s most outstanding landmarks and hidden gems that will truly immerse you in the fascinating Welsh culture.

One of our favourite Wales self-guided walking holidays, Walking the Welsh Highland Railway, allows you to admire the most spectacular peaks, ridges and lakes in Snowdonia National Park. Exploring on foot, this trip also gives you the opportunity to experience sections of the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway. Beginning on the coast of the maritime town of Porthmadog, the route moves inland towards the picturesque village of Beddgelert and Rhyd Ddu before taking on the challenging ascent to Snowdon’s summit. Voted the best view in the UK, Snowdown’s breath-taking panorama offers views overlooking Llyn Llydaw which is one of the legendary locations of King Arthur, his sword Excalibur, and the Lady of the Lake.

If you’d like to discover the impressive Clwydian and Berwyn mountain ranges and their rich history, our North East Wales Heritage Trail trip takes you on a captivating journey through the beautiful rolling hills and limestone outcrops towards peculiar Iron Age forts, ancient stone castles and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct across the River Dee. For a beachside break, enjoy our guided Walking the Gower Peninsula itinerary, on which you’ll discover the beautiful bays and heather-clad moors, including the Whiteford Burrows Nature Reserve and the Llanrhidian Marsh SSSI, where you may be able to spot Oystercatchers, knots, pintails and golden plovers in the area.

When it comes to cycling in Wales, our Ride the South Wales Coast trip takes you from Swansea to St Davids, the smallest city in Britain. Along this exhilarating route, enjoy cycling through the Rhossili Coast before exploring the wetlands of Llanelli and beautiful bucolic villages and mill towns that feel like open-air museums which give a fascinating nod to their agricultural past.
