Fun and interesting

We selected the holiday because the weather was warm but not too hot in May and also the pictures looked interesting.
We are really glad we went. The places have history, interest, fun and comfort.
We felt really at home wandering the streets at night taking photos and enjoying the superb restaurants.
We enjoyed the trip immensely and are considering returning to Croatia.

Most Inspirational Moment

I guess it was wandering through the night in Korcula. The crowds were disappearing the restaurants were smelling gorgeous. The waiters and locals were all chatty and friendly. The light was beautiful for some good night time photos. Then we happened upon a group of about 20 locals in tracksuits with beers practising their acapella singing. Great moment.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sasa (pronounced sacha but cant type the accent) was fun and bubbly. She tried really hard to keep everyone happy. She moved between everyone in the group with skill and appreciated everyones needs. She organised meals for those that wanted them together, every night. We enjoyed her company.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The Pension in Korcula was about 15 minutes walk from the old town. The walk is easy and well lit. It was great moments to get into town for the night time. In Dubrovnik the "Dubrovnik Card" was great value to catch the very easy bus (bus-stop just outside our hotel) and to visit all the sights. I am not a Game of Thrones fan but got caught up in it with other fans visiting all those filming sights (thank you Lili). There is even the IRON THRONE made of swords on Lokrum Island. I sat on it and had my picture taken. I enjoyed that they filmed the latest Star wars movie there "the last Jedi" so got fascinated by that. There is a free map at the hotel that gives you all the filming sights. Get one if you like this stuff.

Croatia and the Dalmatian Coast

Wonderful country that should be on everybody’s list.

Most Inspirational Moment

The vistas.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sasha was what a tour leader should be, proud of her country and wanting to share it with the group. One couldn't ask for better.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This trip was listed as leisurely but I feel it was a moderate especially for a couch potato.

Dubrovnik & the Dalmation Coast

A lovely varied holiday, combining walking , sight seeing & the history of Croatia.

Most Inspirational Moment

The wonderful different views from various places were all inspirational.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader Ivan was brilliant, he was very attentive, full of information & nothing was too much trouble, he explained thoroughly what would be happening next on the tour & kept an eye on everyone.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The first walk was harder than I had envisaged but was well worth it for the amazing view from the top.

Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast

This was an excellent trip giving an overview of the Croatian coast, some of the islands, plus a quick look at important historical sights.

Most Inspirational Moment

The scenery, the sea and the islands plus the magnificence of Dubrovnik.

Thoughts on Group Leader

An intelligent likeable man, a good ambassador for Croatia!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Although not a lot of walking is required, comfortable shoes and beach shoes are essential.

Dubrovnik and the Dalmation Coast

I’ve been on a number of Exodus trips and this one did not disappoint. An excellent varied trip with a really good group of fellow travellers who gelled well and were lead by great group leader.

Most Inspirational Moment

Everyday there was some thoroughly enjoyable experience. Croatia is a very lovely place.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ivica (Ivan) was a great group leader who was fun and enthusiastic and worked very hard to ensure that all group members enjoyed their trip. He took us to some great places to eat and we had some fun evenings out.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Read trip notes carefully! It was incredibly hot as a July departure. Also walks were quite challenging for some group members including myself! I do think very good walking shoes or boots are essential not just recommended.

Croatia must see - very picturesque

The trip to Croatia was excellent. I arrived early to enable me to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park, truly amazing.
The tour was fantastic, we had a great guide and a fun group. The group was small – 9, which made it easy to get around. The accommodations chosen where in great locations, quiet and comfortable. The tour had a nice mix of structured time and individual time. One half day event should be changed, feedback was provided to improve the tour for others – otherwise it would have been excellent.
After the tour I spent an additional 3 days to allow me to visit Mostar and Montenegro. If you are limited to the 7 day tour, I recommend you visit the island of Lokrum as the other two locations are a 12 hour day with 6-7 hours driving time.

Most Inspirational Moment

Most inspirational moment was watching the sunset in Dubrovnik from the top of the cable car Also need to mention the island of Mljet, enjoyed the hike to the fire station - what an incredible view and the swim in the lakes - so peaceful and refreshing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader Marko was outstanding, always had a smile and very enthusiastic about his country. Helpful in providing options and supportive to those who required additional assistance. The local guides where very knowledgeable during the city tours and provided excellent advice on places to eat.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take the advice of the group leader and local guides, they help make the best of your time. Go early to the Old Town's you will have the place almost to yourself Stay longer and do a few other tours on your own

Dalmatian Coast

Overall I thought the trip was good and well organized. The small tour group size was perfect.
I loved Croatia , it was beautiful.

I think there are things that could be done to improve the trip:

1. Tour guide for the major cities/stops: We had no tour or tour guide for Split and it would have been helpful.
The tour leader is NOT a tour guide. He just gave us maps and then we were on our own.

2. Hotels were all clean and nice except for the one in Dubrovnik. Its outdated and need to be renovated.

Most Inspirational Moment

Loved walking the city walls in Dubrovnik.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was very nice and got us from point A to point B every time. I think he could have shared more about the country's history while we were on the boat, bus, etc. That is the point of having a local tour leader.

Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast

The trip starts in Trogir for one night and then moves to Korcula Island for 3 nights. On Korcula, the visit includes a visit to the medieval walled town of Korcula (day 1), a walk from Pupnat to Korcula(day 2) , and a boat trip to Mljet Island with a walk to the peak of Montokuc (day 3), Following this, we returned to the mainland by ferry and stopped at Ston on the way to Dubrovnik. In Ston, we had a wine tasting tour. The second day in Dubrovnik, we visited the old town inside the city walls. On the last day, we took the optional trip to Mostar in Bosnia Herzegovina to see the rebuilt bridge, destroyed in 1993.

Most Inspirational Moment

We were fortunate that a Croatian music festival was going on while we were visiting the old city of Dubrovnik, and were able to hear symphonic and operatic music within the old walled city one evening after a dinner.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader, Zelko Zarak, was a very knowledgeable leader with superb English skills. In addition to his historical and local knowledge, he was more like a friend than guide, integrating himself into our group dinners and activities. Even though our Dubrovnik dinner ended around midnight, he still encouraged us to listen to the Croatian music festival, while still keeping the group together under very crowded circumstances. Truly, I believe he is a reason why our group of 15 bonded so well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

As our tour included several walks along city walls, a climb up to the top of Montokuc, and many optional climbs up church steeples and minarets, booking the tour in cooler months may be a plus. We went in mid-July.

Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast

Our holiday got off to a bad start when we missed our flight connection in Zagreb and had to wait 8 hours for the next flight to Split. The connection time was too short as it was only 30 minutes, and I think that Exodus made a mistake by booking these flights.
The rest of the holiday was fine until we reached Dubrovnik. The Hotel Sumratin was simply below standard and did not have the facilities that we expected. It was dirty, noisy, the bathroom was the size of a cupboard, and the breakfast was disgusting. In fact, everyone on the tour got sick with food poisoning on the last two days and we believe it was the hotel breakfast that caused this. This hotel was not of the standard that you would expect from an Exodus holiday and the last two days (and most of the week following) were ruined due to sickness.

Most Inspirational Moment

I can't think of one.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was a little on the young side at only 24 years old, but otherwise he was fine.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do not book this holiday if it includes staying at the Hotel Sumartin, Dubrovnik.

We would like to apologise for Susan’s far from ideal start to her holiday as we realise it must have been very disappointing to have arrived into Croatia much later than planned. We would like to assure Susan that these flights met the minimum connection time in Zagreb and we have used these flight times for our clients previously without issue. Having said this, we have asked our aviation team to look into alternative options for next season’s departures. Further to recent feedback we are no longer using the Hotel Sumratin for this tour, which we hope will help to avoid similar client disappointment going forward.

Review of Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast

While the places we visited were very interesting, I was extremely disappointed with the group leader as well as the hotels we were put up at. It was my first trip with Exodus and sadly, will likely be my last too.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the remains of the walled cities.

Thoughts on Group Leader

1) He clearly had problems with communications, and this has nothing to do with his language skills as he was fluent in English. He was reluctant to let us know what to expect and how to plan for the activities. It appears that he just expected us to follow his every instruction at the last minute, without realizing that the group consisted of seasoned travelers who appreciated being briefed about what to expect ahead of time. 2) His manner of communications with us was also inappropriate. He always wanted to have the last word in every conversation, and many of us just decided not to contradict his opinions after some time, in case he made things difficult for us for the rest of the trip. I would have expected a certain level of professionalism in his communications with us, his customers. 3) His affections towards a particular group member also clouded his professional judgement on many occasions. His public display of affections made several of us extremely uncomfortable. While I am not against him developing feelings for an attractive customer, he should only act on his feelings during "after hours".

We sincerely regret that Wendy was underwhelmed with both her tour leader and with some of the hotels stayed at during the trip. Whilst we have previously received positive feedback from clients about this leader, he will be given further training before next season’s departures. We are very sorry that the hotels did not live up to Wendy’s expectations, so further to recent feedback some of the properties on this trip have been upgraded for next year.
