This was a great adventure that was very scenic and provided a challenging ride. The tour leaders were great and created an overall wonderful experience. Similar to another Exodus trip, the quality of the hotels are mixed. I can appreciate it difficult to find hotels in each location but it is not clear if there are minimum standards / expectations by Exodus. It appears that these decisions are made by the local tour company subject to budgets provided by Exodus, but the lack of ownership on securing clean and comfortable hotels is one reason that I do not fully recommend Exodus.

There was plenty of cycling combined with a wide range of cultural activities and enough free time to explore on one’s own. Hotels were all very comfortable. The people were welcoming and friendly and we came away with an impression of a country with plenty to offer. However, to call this trips “back roads” cycling is rather generous. There were plenty of days where cycling was in high traffic conditions and inhaling diesel fumes and pollution was rather unpleasant. Some of the roads were bumpy and dangerous.The cycling on the country roads was delightful. The support team was always on hand to make sure every aspect of the trip went smoothly.

What should I pack for a biking vacation?
Preparing for any adventure can be a bit overwhelming, especially when it involves cycling! What should I wear on a bike tour?
During your ride, we advise wearing padded cycling shorts, cycling gloves, sturdy cycling shoes, and a compact close-fitting bag or fanny pack. Feel free to bring your own gear, such as SPD or clipless pedals, your preferred saddle (excluding the seat post), or a gel saddle cover. Your tour leader will assist with fitting these when bikes are distributed.
