The remote town of Tortuguero on the sun-drenched Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, is definitely a place to let your cares drift away into the ocean waves as you sip on a “refresco”. But, there’s so much to see and do you might not be able to sit still for long.

The National Park is one of the most varied parks boasting high rainforests, marshy lands canals, and it is also one of the most important breeding grounds for both the Green Sea and Leatherback Turtle. In the nesting seasons (April to May and July to October respectively) it’s possible to see groups of turtles laying eggs in the sand at night. You can also rent a canoe and explore the canal – just watch out for the odd crocodile or two…
