Before going to a new destination, it’s always a good idea to look into things that might affect your safety, comfort, and enjoyment of the trip. Some things to keep in mind for Sicily include the diverse climate, local customs, and rich history.

When packing for your Sicilian adventure, keep in mind that the weather varies across the island, from the coastal warmth to the often cooler temperatures in the mountains. Also note that Sicilians appreciate modest dress, particularly when visiting religious sites. Our travel specialists have compiled detailed trip notes for each tour, so be sure to check those out for packing lists and other essential information specific to your trip.

If you want to be extra prepared for your trip, a basic understanding of Italian or Sicilian phrases can enhance your interactions and show respect for the local culture, though in tourist areas many people do speak and understand English as well. Well organized tour covering various aspects of Sicilian treasures, including history, archeology, architecture, urbane and village sites and nature parks. Our leader tried his best to “navigate “us in our free time. But I think additional envolvement of the local guides would benefit our exploration of the area more complete.

Marina Gilbourd Treasures of Sicily

It was a fantastic introduction to Sicily and we covered a lot of the island focusing on history, art, and architecture. Sicily is truly filled with gems.

Linda Visser Treasures of Sicily

An expensive trip as no meals are included apart from breakfast. Hotel taxes and many admission charges are also not included. We would have liked more input from expert archeologists as we thought the input from Exodus was distinctly thin. Our group of 17 was large and had a high average age – so at times this trip felt more like a bus trip for the aged than an adventure holiday – indeed some members of the group were unable to keep up with aspects of the itinerary. This trip lacked the “wow” factor and energy of our other “grand tour” trips. It could, for example have been supplemented with more optional activities – cooking, wine tasting, etc at affordable cost (one or two things were offered at completely absurd prices). Overall, we enjoyed the trip but think it could be improved by having a smaller group and more intensive historical insight.
