Top 5 Lithuania Tour Highlights

1. Vilnius
Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is renowned for its well-preserved medieval old town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with baroque architecture, charming cobblestone streets, and historical landmarks like the Vilnius Cathedral and Gediminas Tower. The city boasts a vibrant arts and cultural scene, with numerous galleries, museums, and theaters, alongside a lively nightlife with trendy cafes, bars, and restaurants.

    2. Curonian Spit National Park
Curonian Spit National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a striking natural wonder stretching between Lithuania and Russia, known for its unique landscape of towering sand dunes, dense forests, and scenic coastal views. The park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering activities like hiking, bird-watching, and exploring charming villages like Nida.

      3. Witch Hill
Witch Hill, located in the village of Juodkrantė on the Curonian Spit, is a fascinating open-air gallery featuring over 80 wooden sculptures that depict characters from Lithuanian folklore and mythology. The sculptures, carved by local artists, create an enchanting and slightly eerie atmosphere as they are nestled among the trees along a forested path.

        4. Kaunas
Lithuania’s second-largest city, Kaunas is a vibrant cultural hub known for its interwar modernist architecture, historic sites like the Pažaislis Monastery, and the unique Gothic-style Zapyskis Church. The city boasts a lively arts scene, with numerous museums, galleries, and street art installations, making it a dynamic destination for history and culture enthusiasts.

          5. Trakai Castle
This stunning medieval fortress, situated on an island in Lake Galvė near Vilnius, is one of Lithuania’s most iconic and picturesque landmarks. The castle, with its red-brick towers and scenic surroundings, offers visitors a glimpse into the country’s rich history and serves as a popular destination for both historical exploration and leisurely boat rides.

I honestly had no idea what to expect when I booked this cycling trip, but wow – what an absolute gem! The route took us to charming medieval towns, along stunning coastlines, and through peaceful national parks, showing us a side of these countries you’d likely otherwise miss. The absolute highlight for me was cycling Lithuania’s Lake District, where we pedaled past gorgeous lakes and through pine forests, discovering adorable wooden villages that looked straight out of a storybook. The unexpected moments made it unforgettable – like when our guide insisted we try this tiny restaurant that only served dried fish (I was skeptical), but it turned out to be the best meal of the entire trip. Every evening, our small group would gather over wine and local beer, laughing about the day’s adventures. From the incredible old town of Tallinn to tucked-away fishing villages, every day brought something new to discover, while the thoughtfully planned routes made the journey challenging yet incredibly rewarding. If you’re on the fence about this trip, just book it.

            Mandy Liebig Cycle the Baltics

This is my 8th Exodus trip since 2017. I appreciate the variety in the cultural tours, such as Discover the Baltics. Over the 12-day period, we visited all three capitals of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, explored historic towns (Tartu, Kaunas, Cesis, and Klaipeda), learned about architecture (Art Nouveau in Riga and Jarmala), trekked in national parks, visited famous churches, took a crash course on Soviet occupation at famous museums, and enjoyed free time to explore on our own. The pace is brisk. Be prepared to board your bus at 9 am each day to begin your tour. There are several long days on the bus as we typically visited two venues. I highly recommend this tour.

Exodus should replace two of the hotels used. They were poor. I did not like being assigned a tiny room with a twin bed.
