Back to back holidays
I wanted to do two holidays back to back, one in Bulgaria spending an extra day in Sofia and then go on to Greece for my second week. I was concerned about the transfers/ pickups etc. However all turned out very well, using the metro in both countries was very easy, with the hotels provided very convenient to the stations and main attractions.
Most Inspirational Moment
Getting to walk in the countryside of both countries plus being able to see the sites of both capitols. I would suggest that Exodus do this holiday as a standard trip. It makes for a good combination for a two week break.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Both the leaders I had were very good. As I have now done 13 trips with Exodus and 12 with another company who's name begins Ex, I can tell you this is not always the case!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Do it !! As I always say travel has made me poorer in the pocket but richer in the mind. I feel privileged to have been to so many places [all be it I worked hard to get the money to enable me to do so] My outlook on life and my opinions on things has been enhanced by my travels. As a person from a humble background, I would not have dreamed as a boy/young man that I would get to go to the places I have been to in my life time. Every trip is a bonus !

lovely trip
Very pleasant trip, walking was fine albeit rather more leisurely than I anticipated, food was excellent and the tour leader exceptional.
Most Inspirational Moment
Our tour leader, he was an expert in Greek History, the island of Evia, Athens - in fact pretty much everything.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Brilliant - see above comment, also, he visited the locally bakery twice a day and carried 12 pastries up the mountain every day for our first stop, also provided pastries for everyone after our evening meal.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The walking is not difficult.

Mountains and Villages of Evia
A great trip to an unknown part of Greece. Most of the walking is easy so the grading is about right, but be aware that some of the paths are through very prickly vegetation so have an alternative to shorts. All but the last night is based in the Hotel Galaxy in Karystos, which is run be a very nice local family and has a wonderful location on the waterfront on short distance from numerous bars and restaurants.
Most Inspirational Moment
Seeing the Roman columns still in situ on Mount Ochi.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Thanos is very enthusiastic, seems to know everybody and runs the trip very efficiently.

Mountains and Villages of Evia (March 2017)
Another excellent holiday with Exodus. Enjoyable walks, just the right length for me, pleasant company, lovely range of vegetarian food available in the restaurants. Hotel in a convenient position on the water front, sea views beautiful. Relaxed, substantial breakfast with local produce. Karystos felt safe to walk around at night. Brochure description accurate. Good value.
Most Inspirational Moment
Evia's history and The Acropolis / Acropolis Museum visit would be the most inspirational, while the walks on Evia were a source of peaceful pleasure. The short visit to Athens is a great addition to the walking holiday.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Thanos was very good at his job; friendly, helpful, enthusiastic and very knowledgable about the area, its history and inhabitants. He took us to six different restaurants and various eateries/cafés on our walks. He also spoilt us with local delicacies for elevenses, all delicious.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Decent boots and long trousers a must for the gorge walk. Some found poles useful.

Walking in Evia
We had a wonderful week. Our group was delightful, the hotel had a lovely local charm and the town of Karystos has a lovely friendly atmosphere. The walks were quite exhausting because of the heat, but as a result there’s a huge feeling of satisfaction at the end of each day.
Most Inspirational Moment
Wonderful moments in shady spots alongside the waterways, after hiking up the hot hillsides. Seeing the beautiful oleanders growing wild, so much colour in the landscape. The friendliness of the locals. Roman columns left half-carved in the marble quarry, exposed for 2,000 years.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Cecile is delightful and very very energetic.

Evia - a true gem on the second largest Greek island (who knew?)
Just an hour away from the port of Rafina is the unspoilt island of Evia. A really lovely destination for walkers and Greek island hoppers alike.
Most Inspirational Moment
The final day's walk is long but a nice end to the trip. Meeting some of the proud Evia residents was inspirational, very versatile and industrious people from the hotelier who has a farm and makes the cheese at breakfast, to the fisherman who not only fishes but rescues animals, and the lady who hosts jazz and music festivals at the local historic vineyard estate.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Cecile was great, calm and collected, just the right balance.
Advice for Potential Travellers
It is rough enough terrain with a lot of undergrowth on the hills, so bring long trousers and some antiseptic creams.
Walking poles aren't mandatory but I would recommend them.

Enjoyable holiday in Evia
This was my first holiday with Exodus and I was very impressed by the standard of the holiday. Karystos is a very pleasant resort, with some good restaurants, but is not over-commercialised. The hotel is good, though hot water did go missing for a short time! I had a room with balcony facing the sea front. There were tea/coffee-making facilities in the room and after a hard day’s walking it was nice to sit on the balcony with a cup of coffee and watch the world go by. The walks were good with many fine views of both mountains and sea. The six members of the group got on well and we had enjoyable evenings sat outside restaurants drinking cheap local wine and chatting. I would certainly travel with Exodus again.
Most Inspirational Moment
I think that the second walk of the holiday, when we went up to a 'saddle' between two peaks was the highlight of the walking programme. There was a great sense of peace and tranquillity up there.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Our guide was excellent, with very good local knowledge. The travel arrangements all worked well and she found us some excellent restaurants for our evening meals. Problems (such as the above-mentioned hot-water shortage) were quickly dealt with.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Make sure you have some long trousers, because the shrubby vegetation on the upland walks can be very prickly!
