Evia
Well looked after and group was a good one. Eating in different tavernas was fun.
Most Inspirational Moment
For me it was seeing the old ruins especially the quarry and walking on Roman paths. The wonderful smell of thyme and herbs.
Thoughts on Group Leader
She was lovely. Really cared for us. As one of the slowest I was not forgotten.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Don't expect 5 star resort treatment. All is clean, comfortable friendly with plenty of food. Really good value for money. View from the rooms at the front is good but you do have to put up with traffic/people noise so take ear plugs.

island of Evia
A week full of amazing moments, either walking in beautiful mountains, seeing sites that were inspirational, eating delicious local food, chatting with interesting people and looked after by a natural guide.
Most Inspirational Moment
seeing the massive Roman columns, half way through being quarried, just abandoned on a mountainside.
Thoughts on Group Leader
I could not imagine a leader more suited to this profession. He seemed to hold each of us in his mind all week, making sure our needs were met and questions answered. He never wavered in his enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge of his countries rich history and culture. He was funny and respectful, and I loved the way he also looked after local businesses by carefully sharing out meals and taxis amongst them all.
Advice for Potential Travellers
If you want a week of being looked after and at the same time experiencing a local Greek community and visiting amazing historical sites while walking in beautiful hills, then this is a trip worth considering.

Evia Waters
The trip started with sunshine, and a first walk, then the weather turned to rain and snow, covering the beautiful mountains. Excellent guide, re-planning routes, taxis, lunch menus and venues to enable us to continue walking. Food and service was amazing and plentiful. Scenery lovely. Company excellent. BA troublesome but guide and Exodus made the troubles dissipate.
Most Inspirational Moment
Watching the leader walking in adverse conditions carrying plastic bags full of delicious elevensies. The group spirit, walking through heavy rain but all still keeping together with a smile.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Excellent! Nothing too much trouble, wise, informative, able to adapt to unusual and trying events.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Keep the free airport newspaper as it helped to dry out wet boots.
Waterproofs and trousers - just in case.....
Have room in your waist bands before the trip.

Evia
Lovely island-but litter and grafitti all over the base town of Karystos.
Most Inspirational Moment
Some nice-but not stunning walks-give a relaxing week. Do not expect to work hard-the walks are low level and manageable for anybody with a basic level of fitness. The day we walked by the Roman marble quarries and saw the columns that were carved in one piece from the rock was especially interesting. The gorge walk was also nice, but cloudy weather and high winds spoiled what could have been a great day out.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Cecile was a good leader-organised and on the ball throughout. She made sure everybody was well looked after with dietary requeirements, and gave a lot of information on flora and fauna.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The hotel in Karystos is basic but friendly. Unfortunately the seafront setting is very noisy at night. The trip notes describe Karystos as a thriving market town, but we saw no evidence of this The causeway is full of litter, the streets are defaced by grafitti-even the local museum has grafitto over a roman marble column laying outside, and a magnificent old steam engine there is rusty and grafittied. I think we have seen the effects of the Greek financial problems. Some of the tavernas visited in the evening provided really good food-some were so-so.

Mountains of Evia
Evia in the autumn was lovely- nice walking temperatures for beautiful sceneries! Our guide knew ( nearly) everyone on the island and spoilt us with local food, great walks and lovely stories about the areas. Very relaxing and a great way to prepare for a wet winter in Belfast. The win of the Northern Ireland football team against Greece was a great final! Brigitte
Most Inspirational Moment
The walk along the valley which ended at a taverna where James Oliver filmed a cooking programme! A local dog followed us all the way and agreed ( did not want to jog back home- rather waited for a taxi)
Thoughts on Group Leader
Thanos was lovely. He knew everyone on Evia and told great stories about Greek history, food and local trade vents

Wonderful Wildflower Walking on Evia
Easy walking on hills and mountain gorges. The weather was nearly perfect, warm spring sunshine. Food was wonderful. The perfect antidote to a wet miserable British winter.
Most Inspirational Moment
The wild flowers carpet the hillside. Not only did they look amazing the scent was the best aroma therapy.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Thanos was excellent. Knowledgeable and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Dedicated to the group and intent on giving us the best experience possible.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Don't expect to be stretched. Walks were leisurely but delightful. Hotel was comfortable but not luxurious.

MOUNTAINS & VILLAGES OF EVIA
Exodus has once again provided a truly memorable walking holiday. Evia is beautiful and unspoiled and the holiday was everything we expected.
Most Inspirational Moment
Arriving at the peak of Mount Ohi in cloud and seeing the 'Dragon House' through the mist. Standing inside this 3000 year old Megalithic temple and listening to Thanos was an experience to remember. There were other inspirational moments but this was the highlight for us.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Thanos was excellent. His expert knowledge of the terrain and of Ancient Greek and Evian History made every walk special. His organisational skills were first class; everything worked perfectly and nothing was too much trouble.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Do read the Trip Notes, the level of walking ability seems accurate; Moderate, needing an average level of fitness.

A way to experience authentic Greek cuisine, take part in guided walks in areas you couldn't find on your own and learn something you probably didn't know about the inhabitants and history of this island.
Most Inspirational Moment
Realising the history of the island, being able to see the marble columns still insitu at the quarry and marvelling how they ever got them down to the sea, as well as across the world!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Thanos was absolutely brilliant, extremely helpful, an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Nothing was too much trouble for him - a great credit to Exodus.
Advice for Potential Travellers
For walking, long trousers or zip-offs are a good idea, as some of the bushes/grasses can scratch!
